Way of Living Ink

For aeons, inks of varying descriptions have been used to both record the history of the world and paint ourselves as a living canvas of expression. Monks of the Way of Living Ink carry those lessons and teachings with them everywhere they travel in the form of Living Ink. This special type of Ink reacts to a Monks Ki to change color, travel along the body like water and even solidify. Studious in history, religion, and the arts, Living Ink monks use their Ki to bring their canvas to life so that they may make their mark as artists and Historians. 

Bonus Proficiency

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Sleight of Hand and Painter's Supplies if you do not already have it

Manifest Ink

Also at 3rd level, you learn to channel your Ki into the ink of your tattoos and bring them to life. When you gain this feature, you choose two Manifestation options of your choice from the Options below. 

In addition, when you gain additional features at level 6, 11, and 17, you may also gain one additional Manifestation option each. 

Armoured Ink

As a bonus action on your turn, you can spend 2 key points to increase your AC by +2 for 1 minute as the Ink on your body spreads to protect you.  

At level 17, when you use Armored Ink you may spend an addition Ki point to increase it to +3

Artist’s Wings

On your turn, you can spend between 1 and 3 Ki points to gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed, as Inky feathered wings unfurl from your back. The Wings last a number of turns equal to the number of Ki points you have spent.

starting at level 17, while under the effects of Artist's Wings your movement does not provoke opportunity attacks 

Inky Flurry

As part of your Flurry of blows, you can spend 1 Ki point to make your unarmed strikes deal acid damage as your Ink lashes out against your target. 

starting at level 17, if you hit at least once while using flurry of blows, your target gains disadvantage on their next attack roll against you 

Inky Gauntlets

Whenever you hit with an unarmed strike on your turn, you may spend 2 Ki points to deal an additional 1d10 damage, as the Living ink now covers your arms and solidifies, increasing the impact. 

starting at level 17, after you hit with Inky Gauntlets, the Ink splatters on the target, causing them to take 1d4 acid damage at the start of their turn unless they spend their action to immediately remove it. 

Inky Tentacles

On your turn, you can spend 1 Ki point to give your unarmed strikes a reach of 30 feet for the duration of your turn as long Inky tendrils extend from your arms like whips.

starting at level 17, when you manifest Inky Tentacles and attack, you may instead target all creatures in a line 30ft long and 5 ft wide instead. 

Tapestry of Ink

Starting at 6th Level, your living ink has become art in of itself, allowing you and those around you to draw their own meaning and inspiration from it. When you expend Ki points to use a feature in the Way of Living Ink Subclass, you may give yourself or an ally a bonus to their next roll equal to twice the amount of Ki points spent. 

Grand Canvas

Starting at 10th Level, you've begun on a creative journey to create what is known as a Grand Canvas. to practitioners of the Living Ink, a Grand Canvas represents the culmination of their lives in the form of a living masterpiece, their own body. once per long rest, you may use an action to temporarily enter this Grand Canvas state, ignoring Ki point requirements for features you have obtained in the Way of the Living Ink subclass. you can remain in the Grand Canvas state for a number of rounds equal to half your proficiency, rounded up.   

Inky Soul

Starting at 17th level, your soul has merged with that of the ink you use, you gain the Amorphous feature from the Plasmoid race, allowing you to squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide, provided you are wearing and carrying nothing. You also have advantage on ability checks you make to initiate or escape a grapple. You also gain additional effects for your Manifest Ink options, AND your Grand Canvas state gives you access to any Manifestation, regardless of if you have it chosen.
