Monk
Base Class: Monk

In a monastery that rises above the clouds some Monks are taught to channel their ki into lightning, wielding it to devastating degrees these Monks seek to gain a better understanding of the storm both within and without.

Lightning-Infused Arts

At 3rd level the power of lightning flows through you and augments your attacks. As a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points and transform. The form lasts for 1 minutes, and you gain the following benefits:

  • When using Flurry of Blows you can make 3 unarmed strikes instead of 2.
  • All of your movement speeds increase by 10 ft.
  • When using Step of the Wind, you gain the benefits of both the Dash and Disengage actions.

Lightning Rod

At 3rd level, you gain resistance to lightning damage. Additionally, immediately after you take lightning damage from any source, you may use your reaction to deal lightning damage equal to the lightning damage you just took to the source of that damage.

By spending 1 ki point, you instead store this damage, and channel it into a melee weapon, which deals additional lightning damage equal to the amount you took on its next hit.

Tempest Stance

At 6th level you embody lightning to a shocking degree. While under the effect of Lightning Arts or as a part of activating Lightning Arts you can spend 2 additional Ki points to gain the following additional abilities.

  • Attacks of opportunity made against you are made at dis.
  • Your unarmed strikes and melee weapon attacks deal an additional 1d6 Lightning damage.
  • You make acrobatics checks and dexterity saves at adv.
  • When an enemy within your reach misses an attack against you, you may use your reaction to make an opportunity attack against that creature using a melee weapon or unarmed strike.

You may also add the lightning damage granted by Tempest Stance  to your deflect missile reaction.

Raging Bolt

At 11th level, you can spend 4 ki points to cast Lightning Bolt. This ignores lightning resistance, and the spellcasting dc is equivalent to your Monk dc.

While under the effects of Infused Arts, you can spend 1 or more ki points (to a maximum of 3) when you hit, to deal additional additional damage dice equal to you martial arts die. The damage type of this deals the same damage as the attack that triggered it (ex. Unarmed deals Bludgeoning, Shortsword deals piercing).

Additionally, the lightning damage dice given from Tempest Stance is raised to a d8.

Lightning Wielder

At 17th level, you embody a heart of lightning, and a body of a storm. While under the effects of Lightning Arts and Tempest Stance, or as part of the bonus action used activating them, you can spend 4 additional ki points to gain the following benefits:

  • The lightning damage dice from Tempest Stance is increased to a d10
  • You have immunity to lightning damage
  • You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed, if you do not already have one that is higher
  • The first attack action you take after activating this ability has an additional attack added as part of that action.

Once this ability expires, you retain the benefits of Lightning-Infused Arts until your next short or long rest.
