Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards that display their passion to the fullest are known as Mariachi. Overflowing with spirit and emotion, these bards foster sensational times for the communities they tour. The arrival of these bards can be a catalyst for joyous festivals, or the spark that ignites a revolution.

The emotions that Mariachi tap into are strong enough to make devils dance or skeletons cry. The power of this emotionally infused magic often animates their own instruments, imbuing them with musical power that enhances the Mariachi’s performance.

A Mariachi will often utilize a personal motif in their attire, music, and performances. These motifs incorporate elements such as animals, flowers, musical notes, skulls, or other icons. These symbols chosen represent the truest identity of a Mariachi’s soul, with misuse or mockery of these elements turning even the most amicable Mariachi into a bitter rival.

Invigorating Instruments

The passion of your music imbues your instruments with an energetic spirit, springing them to life and empowering yourself and your allies with bardic prowess.

As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to invigorate your performance. When you do so, a number of spectral or tangible instruments (your choice) appear and float around you within your space. While this ability is active, allied creatures that can hear you (including yourself) gain a bonus to their Charisma ability checks and saving throws equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.

In addition, while these instruments are summoned you can use them to bolster the magic of your performance. When you cast a spell while your Invigorating Instruments are active, you can use your reaction to invigorate the spell. Allied creatures that can hear you when you use this reaction can use their own reaction to further invigorate you; singing, dancing, or playing their own instrument. You gain a bonus to the spell’s spell attack modifier and initial spell save DC equal to the number of reactions used (including your own). The maximum bonus you can receive from this reaction is equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). You can use this reaction only once each time you summon your Invigorating Instruments.

Your Invigorating Instruments last for 10 minutes, disappearing early if you are incapacitated or silenced, or if you voluntarily dismiss them (no action required).

You can use this feature twice, regaining all expended uses on a short or long rest.

Soul Song

As an action, you touch a willing creature and unlock the musical passion within their soul. That creature gains proficiency in the performance skill and one musical instrument of its choice (which can be its own voice) for 1 hour. While under the effect of this ability the creature can choose to gain advantage on one Charisma ability check or saving throw it makes before the effect ends.

You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1), regaining all expended uses on a Long Rest.

Overwhelm

Your music opens the hearts of even the most callous creatures, overwhelming them with emotion. Whenever you fail to charm or frighten a creature due to it being immune to the charmed or frightened condition, you can spend one use of your Bardic Inspiration to bypass the creature’s immunity (no action required). Roll your Bardic Inspiration die. Your spells and abilities (including the one that triggered this ability) bypass the creature’s immunity for a number of rounds equal to the roll.

You may use this feature once, regaining all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Performance of Passion

You gain a special version of Countercharm known as your Performance of Passion. This special version can be started as an action or a bonus action. When you start your Performance of Passion, friendly creatures (including yourself) within the area of effect that can hear you gain temporary hit points equal to one roll of your Bardic Inspiration + your Charisma modifier (minimum of 0). If your Invigorating Instruments feature is active, each creature automatically rolls the maximum value on the die when determining the number of temporary hit points they gain.

In addition, you can imbue creatures that hear your performance with an intense desire to cavort and dance. When you start your Performance of Passion, creatures of your choice within the area of effect are subjected to the effects of the spell Irresistible Dance until the end of your next turn.
