Base Class: Artificer

At level 3 you can collect essences of fallen enemies which take the shape of a shard of bone with faintly glowing marks, with more being awarded depending on the type of creature being harvested. These shards can be combined into scourge specific items or used to enhance themselves or their minions. Each spell-slot at level one or above generates essences equal to the level of spell slot used.

Construct awards 0 essence.

Humanoid awards 1 essence.

Beasts award 2 essence.

Undead awards 2 essence.

Fey awards 5 essence.

Elemental awards 5 essence.

Fiend awards 10 essence.

Celestial awards 10 essence.

Aberration awards 10 essence.

Dragon awards 20 essence.

Essences can be combined into tokens which can fuel subclass specific summoning magics and enhancements for both the caster and its minions.

10 Essences can be combined into a single Bone Token. 5 Bone Tokens can be combined into a Bone Tribute. 2 Bone Tributes can be combined into a Bone effigy.

At level 9 Bone Tributes become available to create from Bone Tokens, and may be used to infuse into the Scourge Artificer or their Scourge specific items. At level 15 Bone effigies can be created from Bone Tributes, and can be used to infuse into the scourge Artificer or their Scourge specific items.

Scourge Enhancement

9th Level Scourge Feature:

Upon reaching level 9 your essence gained from spells and fallen enemies is increased by half your proficiency modifier rounded down. Additionally skeletons produced through Bone Tokens now Last 10 turns in combat and gain 10 temporary hp without enhancement, 15 temp hp + 1d4 bonus damage with enhancement.

Essence Harvest / Necrotic Construction

3rd-level Scourge feature

Gain the ability to collect a resource called 'essence' from the corpses of fallen enemies which resemble small shards of bone with a glowing mark adorning its surface. Each level one or above spell slot awards essence equal to level of slot used.

These essences can be used to construct 4 Scourge specific items which vary in effect depending on which tier of resource was used to create it. Tokens may also be used to enhance these items once before use. Enhancements must be the same tier or lower than the item used.  You may only create Tokens at level 3. It costs an action to utilise Necrotic Constructions.

Summoning Bone: Costs 1 token to make and upon use summons 1d4 skeletons that last 5 turns and are friendly to you and the party. Can be enhanced with another token to guarantee 4 skeletons with 10 temp hp. Alternatively up to 3 may be partially buried and act as either proximity traps that summon skeletons upon getting too close OR can activate in unison as long as the summoning bones are capable of hearing the Scourge Artificer when commanded. 

Barrier Bone: Costs 1 token to summon a barrier with 20hp that blocks doorways for up to 1 hour or until dismissed or destroyed. Cannot be enhanced before use. You may use a token to grant 10 temporary hp to the barrier after placement, temporary hp does not stack and a turn must be waited after the current temporary hp has been exhausted before further enhancement.

Sacrificial Bone: Costs 2 tokens to create a jagged bone that yearns for blood. May be used by self or by others to sacrifice health in exchange for temporary power. On use the item steals 5 health and grants 1d6 necrotic damage on weapon or spell attacks for 3 turns. Can be enhanced with a token to instead grant 1d6 + 2 necrotic damage on weapon or spell attacks for 5 turns, but deals 10 damage to self instead

Beneficial Bone: Costs 2 tokens to create a short lived pendant that protects the wearer. Upon wearing this pendant you are protected with 10 temporary hp. This pendant is destroyed upon losing the temporary hp or until long rest. Cannot be enhanced.

When using an action to utilise Necrotic Construction you can take the Attack action as a bonus action.

Enhanced Necrotic Construction

9th-level Scourge feature

At level 9 you are capable of creating and using Bone Tributes, which can be more powerful or offer increased utility.

Summoning Bone: Costs 1 Tribute to make and upon use summons 1d4 + proficiency skeletons that last until long rest and are friendly to you and the party. Can be enhanced with a token to guarantee 4 (+proficiency) skeletons with 10 temp hp. Can enhance with a Tribute to instead summon 2 Flesh golem (Flavour text Husk Zombie), which are gluttons for punishment. Alternatively up to 3 may be partially buried and act as either proximity traps that summon skeletons or golems upon getting too close OR can activate in unison as long as the summoning bones are capable of hearing the Scourge Artificer when commanded, flesh golems produced this way last 1d4 + 2 rounds. 

Barrier Bone: Costs 1 Tribute to summon a barrier with 30hp that blocks doorways or may act as a free-standing barrier taking up 10ft - 10ft - 5ft and may act as full cover, ranged attacks targeting a player behind instead damage the barrier. Lasts for up to 1 hour or until dismissed or destroyed. Cannot be enhanced before use. You may use a token to grant 10 temporary hp to the barrier after placement, temporary hp does not stack and a turn must be waited until after the temporary hp has been exhausted before further enhancement. You may use a Tribute to grant 15 temporary hp to the barrier and extend the barrier by 10ft. Allow the barrier to detonate in the direction of the one who attacked it last upon destruction, dealing 1d10 + 4 necrotic damage in a 10ft cone.

At level 15 you are capable of creating and using Bone Effigies, which can be more powerful or offer increased utility.

Summoning Bone: Costs 1 Effigy to make and upon use summons 1d6 + proficiency skeletons that last until slain and are friendly to you and the party. Can be enhanced with a token to give the skeletons 10 temp hp. Can enhance with a Tribute to instead summon 4 Flesh golems (Flavour text Husk Zombie), which are gluttons for punishment. Alternatively up to 3 may be partially buried and act as either proximity traps that summon skeletons or golems upon getting too close OR can activate in unison as long as the summoning bones are capable of hearing the Scourge Artificer when commanded, flesh golems produced this way last 1d6 + 4 rounds.

Lasts for up to 1 hour or until dismissed or destroyed. Cannot be enhanced before use. You may use a token to grant 10 temporary hp to the barrier after placement, temporary hp does not stack and a turn must be waited until after the temporary hp has been exhausted before further enhancement. You may use a Tribute to grant 15 temporary hp to the barrier and extend the barrier by 10ft. Allow the barrier to detonate in the direction of the one who attacked it last upon destruction, dealing 1d10 + 4 necrotic damage in a 10ft cone. You may use a Effigy to instead transform into either: A 15ft radius of difficult terrain lasting 1 hour or until dismissed, using the barriers position before transformation as a centre point; Or a magical sentry that floats 10ft above ground and attacks who the Artificer wishes, dealing 1d4 + 1 Force with 6 darts(using lvl 4 magic missile); this sentry has 20hp with an AC of 10, lasts 3 turns and comes directly after the Artificer. Sentry may only attack one target at a time.

Sacrificial Bone: Costs 2 Effigies to create a jagged bone that yearns for blood. May be used by self or by others to gain temporary power. On use the item grants 3d6 necrotic damage on weapon or spell attacks for 5 turns, upon the effect ending the user is drained of life, gaining 2 exhaustion points. Can be enhanced with a token to grant an increased 1d6 necrotic damage on weapon or spell attacks, dealing 5 damage. Can be enhanced with a Tribute to grant an increased 1d6 necrotic damage, reduces exhaustion points inflicted by 1 but damages the user by 10hp. Can be enhanced with an Effigy to remove exhaustion point gain, deals an increased 2d6 necrotic damage and inflicts 30 damage to the user.

Beneficial Bone: Costs 2 Effigies to create a pendant that protects the wearer. Upon wearing this pendant you are protected with 25 temporary hp, recharges after 1d4 long rests. Falling to 0 health destroys the pendant, returning you to 1hp. Cannot be enhanced.
