Base Class: Warlock
Based on Ritelia's legacy, the Witch are creatures whose existence is cursed by the gods. Their presence poses a threat to many divine and demonic beings, causing them to be purged by deities. In the end, the remaining witches were forced to hide away from the eyes of Twilight, forever unseen by many... until now.
Your patron is not a sentient being, but an abstract concept of a theme. This can often vary for each witch, but they are never the same. Some witches have patrons like Winter, Freezing, Time, Growth, Harvest, Spring, Bloodshed, and other abstract concepts. Once having a patron, it never changes, making you have your patron's title (e.g.: The Witch of Sorrow).
Unique Spell List
The Witch subclass lets you choose from a unique list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. You can choose any of the listed prerequisites in any order and add them to the warlock spell list when you reach the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th warlock levels. The spells can only be up to a 5th-level spell, and you can only learn 2 spells from each spell level.
- a spell that can only be learned by one class (includes variant/optional classes, excludes subclass)
- a spell that targets additional creatures when upcasted
- a spell that applies a condition
- two spells that provide multiple options
- two spells with three words on their name (Speak with Animals, Protection from Energy, Otiluke's Resilient Sphere, etc.)
*) It is recommended to declare the spells you learn from the Unique Spell List and what prerequisite chosen to gain that spell in the Notes and Pings channel or stored somewhere in your dndbeyond inventory.
Accursed Gift
Starting at 1st level, you are bestowed an otherworldly power unique to you. All 4 powers are rolled randomly when you pick this subclass and then remain sealed. You gain each unsealed power in any order of your choosing at the 1st, 6th, 10th, and 14th warlock levels.
At 14th level, choose one of your Accursed Gift. When the gift's trigger is met, you can choose to activate its effects without rolling. Once you activate a gift this way, you cannot use this ability again until you take a long rest.
The rolled powers from Table of Otherworldly Powers is static and cannot be rerolled, even on retrains!
*) It's recommended to roll all 4 powers from the table at the same post for the Notes and Pings channel's special thread "#accursed-gift". If you rolled a number you've already rolled, reroll up to 3 times until you gain a new power. If you still rolled a double after all rerolls, you may choose a power on your own.
| Roll (d20) | Table of Otherworldly Power |
|---|---|
| 1 | When you fail a saving throw that you are proficient in, roll d100, on a number at or below your warlock level, you instead succeed. |
| 2 | You gain resistance to a damage type of your choice. |
| 3 | When you are overhealed, roll d6, on a 6 half of the surplus of healing turns into temporary hit points (up to max hp). |
| 4 | When you gain a death save fail from taking damage, roll d4, on a 4 it instead succeeds. |
| 5 | When you take damage from traps, roll d2, on a 2 you take no damage (includes Glyph and Symbol). |
| 6 | When you cast a spell, roll d20, on a 20 you use the Twinned Spell metamagic if the spell is eligible. |
| 7 | When you would die, roll 1d4, on a 4 your death is delayed until the end of your next turn instead. This death can't be prevented. |
| 8 | When you use your reaction, roll d10, on a 10 you gain another reaction until the start of your next turn. |
| 9 | When you use your bonus action, roll d20, on a 20 you gain another bonus action until the end of your turn. |
| 10 | When you cast a spell, roll d100, on a 100, the spell is cast twice. |
| 11 | When you pass a saving throw from a hostile creature, roll d10, on a 10 you recover one of your expended pact slots. |
| 12 | When you finish a short rest, roll d4, on a 4 it is considered a long rest, and you can’t activate this ability for 24 hours. |
| 13 | When you cast a spell, roll d4, on a 4, the spell is considered a Subtle spell. |
| 14 | When you use a consumable, roll d10, on a 10 it is considered as if you consumed it twice. |
| 15 | When you gain resistance from a spell, roll d10, on a 10 it is instead considered gaining immunity. |
| 16 | When you gain an effect that requires you to roll a saving throw at the end of your turn to end the condition, roll d2, on a 2 you may roll it at the start of your turn instead. |
| 17 | When you gain temporary hitpoints, roll d2, on a 2 you also gain that many hitpoints. |
| 18 | When a creature drops you to 0, roll d20, on a 20 you may immediately take an action before you fall unconscious. |
| 19 | When you break your concentration, roll d6, on a 6 you can choose to maintain your concentration. |
| 20 | When you expend your spell slot, roll d6, on a 6 you gain hit points equal to 10x the spell slot level you expend. |
Pact of the Witch
By the time you reach 6th level, you gain the ability to form a pact with another creature. Due to the pact with abstract beings, you can extend your unorthodox pact with another creature by performing a ritual for 10 minutes. You can only perform this ritual once every 24 hours. The creature becomes bound by the pact until it breaks from one of the following conditions: when it dies, when you die, when the pact is broken by effects that remove the curse, when you form a pact with another creature, or when they are in a different realm than you.
You can choose one of your warlock spells that is 3rd level or lower. You temporarily became unable to cast that spell, but the bound creature can innately cast that spell as many times as your proficiency bonus. The spell cast using this pact requires no material components, but the bound creature also loses 4d6 hit points when they cast the spell.
Witching Grudge
When you reach 10th level, you gain the abilities of those who caused your grief. At each dawn, roll 1d4 and refer to the Grudge Reaction table. Those now became your trigger for this ability's reaction. When you use your reaction for your current trigger, you may curse said target with a witching curse effect until the end of the creature's next turn: A creature cursed by a witching curse loses 1d4 bonus to their attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws, and they add another dice whenever they roll a 1 on their attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws, but also when they take critical damage.
At the 14th level, this ability is improved. When you use your reaction to activate the Witching Grudge for the first time since you take a long rest, you regain one of your lowest expended spellslot. Otherwise, if it isn't the first time, you gain temporary hit points equal to your warlock level plus your charisma score.
| Roll (d4) | Table WItching grudge |
|---|---|
| 1 | When you dropped to 0 from taking damage from a creature. |
| 2 | When you are applied a condition from a creature. |
| 3 | When you are single-targeted by a legendary action from a creature. |
| 4 | When you take critical damage from a creature. |
Lasting Taste
When you reach the 14th level, your existence is no longer just recognized by your abstract patron, but it intermingles with it, allowing you to partially become one with your aspect. Your body appearance may change to mimic your patron without altering your body structure (hair color, eyes, aura, or other visual flavor).
In addition, choose a warlock spell you know with the following prerequisites:
- Has a range of Self
- Has a non-instantaneous Duration
- Is not a part of your Unique Spell List
- Is a leveled spell up to 7th level
That spell's duration lasts indefinitely until you decide to end it.
