Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of the Improvised Fighter are ready to act in any situation. Carrying a weapon only opens you up to issues of it being stolen or damaged, so why not use the surroundings as your form of offense! Monks of this tradition learn not only how to use their surroundings as effective weapons, but how to utilize them to grant them and their allies advantages in combat.
Improvised Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you become proficient with improvised weapons and they count as monk weapons for your abilities.
In addition, on your turn, after you hit an enemy with an improvised weapon, you can spend 1 ki point to destroy your currently held weapon and impose one of the following effects on that target:
- It must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn.
- It must succeed on a Strength saving throw or drop one item of your choice that it is currently holding at its feet.
- It must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
Creative Combat
Starting at 6th level, you have learnt creative ways to utilise the objects around you. If you hit a creature with an improvised weapon you have not used this combat, the target takes an additional 1d6 damage. This damage increases to 1d8 at level 11.
Unassuming Guise
At level 11 you gain the following benefits:
- If you are not wielding any weapons at the start of combat, gain advantage on your initiative roll.
- As a reaction to being hit on your turn, you can spend 3 ki points and break your currently held improvised weapon for a +5 to AC until the start of your next turn, including against the triggering attack.
- The damage of Creative Combat increases to 1d8
Relentless Resourcefulness
Starting at level 17, you are a master at improvised weapon fighting. When you hit a creature with an improvised weapon attack, you can spend 1 ki point to attack the creature again. You may keep spending ki points this way until you miss. In addition, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points using an improvised weapon, you regain 2 ki points.
