Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

The Path of the Relic Runner calls to those rangers who live for the thrill of discovery and the challenge of the unknown. These adventurers are agile, quick-witted, and resourceful, able to navigate the most treacherous ruins and claim treasures hidden away for centuries. Whether darting across crumbling bridges, deciphering arcane symbols, or improvising weapons from their surroundings, Relic Runners possess an unmatched ability to adapt and survive. For them, every ancient ruin is a puzzle waiting to be solved, and every lost relic holds the promise of both danger and glory.

Expert Climber

Your experience in scaling cliffs and ruined walls grants you a climbing speed equal to your base walking speed. You have advantage on Strength (Athletics) and Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks related to climbing or navigating hazardous terrain, like broken stairs or unstable platforms. You can also leap across gaps or between ledges without needing a running start, and you ignore difficult terrain caused by rubble or debris.

Environmental Cover

You can use your surroundings to provide yourself and your allies with better protection:

  • Instant Cover: As a reaction when you are targeted by an attack, you can use your surroundings to create temporary cover. This cover provides a +2 bonus to your AC against that attack and lasts until the start of your next turn. The cover can be created from available objects such as a toppled column, a large piece of furniture, or hanging cloth.
  • Camouflage: When you are in an area of natural terrain or ruins, you can use a bonus action to blend into your surroundings. Until the start of your next turn, you gain advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks and enemies have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks to spot you.

Devastating Strike

Your keen awareness of your surroundings allows you to make a powerful and precise strike:

  • Environmental Impact: Once per turn, when you make a weapon attack, you can deal an additional 2d6 damage. This extra damage reflects the impact of using your surroundings to enhance your attack, such as leveraging unstable ground, weak points in structures, or striking from a height.

Survival Instincts

Survival Instincts: Once per long rest, when you would drop to 0 hit points due to a trap, fall, or environmental hazard, you can instead drop to 1 hit point and keep moving as though the effect had no impact. This ability also grants you temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) at the start of your turns for 1 minute.

Resilient Reflexes: When you use the Dash action, you can move through difficult terrain without expending extra movement, and you gain advantage on Dexterity saving throws made to avoid traps or hazards during that turn.
