Base Class: Barbarian
Most think gravity can only mean the pull to the earth that all creatures experience, but in truth, gravity is an all encompassing term that can describe many things. For example, the theoretical 'gravity' that all creatures have, their importance in the grand scheme of the world. Or fate, what is weighted to come. Gravity barbarians harness this power by taking in its magic similar to Ki. Due to their reliance on fate and absolutes, most Gravity barbarians are Lawful, following codes similar to the oaths of paladins.
Gravity Well
When you first take this subclass at 3rd level, you learn to manipulate your importance and weight in the eyes of fate. You gain resistance to force damage, in addition, whenever you Rage, you gain the following additional benefits:
- A radius of 20 feet centered on you becomes Difficult Terrain, as your stronger gravitational pull begins to effect and weighten the world around you. You can choose which creatures are affected by this pull.
- You gain a +2 AC modifier as you bend your importance to fate.
- Your speed increases by 10 feet.
(Un)Luck of the Draw
Starting at 6th level, you have grown more in tune with Gravity. While raging, whenever you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, You gain one stack of Unluck, as gravity begins to build up within you. You may also use Unluck in the following way:
Slip of Fate
As a reaction whenever the targeted creature rolls, you may expend 1 stack of Unluck to give them advantage or disadvantage. You may expend Unluck in this way a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Anti-Gravity Spike
Starting at 10th level, you have tapped into the potential of falling. You learn how to completely negate a creature's gravity. On your turn, you may use a bonus action to expend 3 Unluck stacks to force a target to make a Constitution saving throw. If they fail, they immediately rise 10 feet into the air, and are considered prone. You may use a bonus action on every turn thereafter to raise them up higher by 10 feet, or lower them by 10 feet, up to a maximum of 80 feet in both directions.
Unluck DC: 10 + Constitution Modifier
Purveyor of Fates
Also starting at 10th level, after attacking a target on your turn, you may expend 5 Unluck stacks to force two creatures to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Unluck DC (they can choose to fail). If both creatures fail this saving throw, you bend fate and gravity itself as their fates become switched. You completely swap the positions of both targets, ending any conditions related to their current position. Both creatures can only be up to 60 feet away from eachother when you use this ability.
Kaleidoscope of Collapse
Finally, at 14th level, you have become in tune with Graviturgy magic. The radius of Gravity Well becomes 35 feet, and you gain 10 feet of movement, and you gain 2 Unluck stacks per hit while raging. In addition, you gain the following ability:
Collapse
While raging, you may cause a Collapse after hitting a target with an attack. Using Graviturgy magic, you lift elements of the environment itself. You can expend Unluck to lift pieces of the environment, starting at small and ending at gargantuan:
- Small | 2 Unluck stacks
- Medium | 3 Unluck stacks
- Large | 4 Unluck stacks
- Huge | 5 Unluck stacks
- Gargantuan | 6 Unluck stacks
Forceful Strikes
In addition, starting at 6th level, whenever you make a melee weapon attack on your turn while Reckless Attacking, you deal an additional 1d4 force damage.
This increases to 1d6 at 14th level, and 1d8 at 18th level.
