way of the 8 gates monks spend their lives training their body, however, they limit their true potential behind 8 gates, set up to protect the users body from self destruction via overexertion. 

Gate Points

you gain the ability to use gate points, which can be used to open the gates of your body.  which will allow you to perform acts of hysterical strength.


 

gate points: you have two gate points, and you can gain more as you reach higher level, which you can spend to unlock one of the eight gates as a bonus action. you will regain all of your gate points on a long rest.


 at 6th, 11th, and 17th level, you gain another 2 maximum gate points.

 

the mental gates

at 3rd level, you figure out how to unlock the mental gates. getting one step closer to unlocking your true potential


 

1st gate: you unlock the potential of your first gate, located in the left hemisphere of your brain. dulling their mental capacity, relying on instinct to act.

using the first gate will spend a bonus action and 1 gate point. giving you an extra action and reaction for the round.


 2nd: gate you unlock the second gate, located in the right hemisphere of the brain. numbing any pain that you may feel.

using the second gate will spend a bonus action and 2 gate points. giving you 2 actions, 2 reactions for the round, and healing 1d10 hit points.

The Central Gates

by 6th level, you have learned to unlock the central gates, located within your spinal cord, unlocking new potential you once never could. however, you may find that unlocking these newfound powers can wear on your body and mind.


 

3rd gate: you unlock the third gate, located in the upper spine, allowing the user's mind and body to act faster than ever.

using the second gate will spend a bonus action and 3 gate points. giving you an extra 3 actions, an extra 3 reactions, and gaining 30ft movement speed for the round, and healing 2d10 hit points

however, unlocking the third gate will give you 1 level of exhaustion at the end of the turn


4th gate: you unlock the fourth gate, located in the lower spine, allowing your muscles to expand and contract faster, and more.

using the fourth gate will spend a bonus action and 4 gate points. giving you an extra 4 actions, an extra 4 reactions, adding 60ft movement speed, adding an extra damage die when making an unarmed strike for the round, and healing 4d10 hit points.

however, unlocking the fourth gate will give you 2 levels of exhaustion at the end of the turn. 

 

The Inner Gates

at 11th level, you learn to unlock your inner gates, located within your body, unlocking even greater potential, and one step away from your true potential. but the cost is growing, and the wear on your body and mind will show.


 

5th gate: you unlock the fifth gate, located in the stomach, converting your food into energy instantly.

using the fifth gate will spend a bonus action and 5 gate points. giving you 5 extra actions, 5 extra reactions, gaining 90ft movement speed, adding an extra 2 damage die when making an unarmed strike for the round, healing 5d10 hit points, and replenishing your ki points

however, unlocking the fifth gate will give you 3 levels of exhaustion at the end of the turn


6th gate: you unlock the sixth gate, located in the lungs, allowing your breaths to be as efficient as possible.

using the sixth gate will spend a bonus action and 6 gate points. giving you 6 extra actions, 6 extra reactions, gaining 120 movement speed, adding an extra 3 damage die when making an unarmed strike, gaining +3 armor class for the round, healing 6d10 hit points, and replenishing your ki points

however, unlocking the fifth gate will give you 4 levels of exhaustion at the end of the turn

 

The Final Gates

at 17th level, you learn to unlock the final two gates, unlocking your true potential, however, you will find that your true potential will come at a great cost. the wear of your body possibly causing your end.


 

7th gate: you unlock the seventh gate, located in your heart, causing it to beat faster, and harder.

using the seventh gate will spend a bonus action and 7 gate points. giving you 7 extra actions, 7 extra reactions, 160 movement speed, adding an extra 4 damage die when making an unarmed strike, gaining +6 armor class, giving you resistance to all damage types for the round, healing 7d10 hit points, and replenishing your ki points.

however, unlocking the fifth gate will give you 4 levels of exhaustion at the end of the round


8th gate: you have achieved the final gate, the gate of the body, unlocking your true potential.

using the 8th gate will spend a bonus action and 8 gate points. giving you 10 extra actions, 10 extra reactions, gaining 220ft movement speed, adding an extra 10 damage dice when making an unarmed strike, gaining +10 armor class, giving you immunity to all damage types for the round, healing you to max hit points, and replenishing your ki points

but doing so will give you 6 levels of exhaustion at the end of the round.
