Base Class: Wizard
In the hallowed halls of the greatest libraries across the multiverse, where the very fabric of reality is etched upon ancient tomes and scrolls, the Archivists find their purpose. They are not mere scholars; they are conduits of forgotten magic, custodians of secrets, and wielders of knowledge beyond mortal comprehension.
Their hunger for knowledge is insatiable. They pore over scrolls inscribed with the forgotten tongues of primordial beings, deciphering cryptic runes that dance like fireflies across the pages. They seek the lost histories of fallen empires, the forbidden rituals of elder gods, and the elusive formulae that bind the cosmos together.
Mystic Savant
This rare breed of wizard has delved into the esoteric and the obscure, gaining the ability to scribe spells into their spellbook that are typically beyond the reach of others arcane pursuits. Their relentless dedication to knowledge has unlocked secrets that blur the lines between the arcane, divine, and primal magic that binds the multiverse together. This makes them the utmost font of mystical knowledge and versatility.
Starting at this level, the Archivist gains access to spellcraft of divine and primal magic. This allows the wizard to select from either the cleric or druid spell lists, in addition to the wizard. You may scribe these spells into your spellbook and prepare daily as if they were Wizard spells. Additionally, you may choose two non-wizard spells, each of which must be no higher than level 2 and add them to your spellbook for free. In addition, whenever you gain access to a new level of spell slots in this class, you can add one non-wizard spell into your spellbook for free.
Master of Letters
The archivist wizard is above all else the utmost master of parchment and quill. Their writing implement and spellbook take on a power all their own. These implements can look like anything.
They have the following properties:
- As a bonus action, you can magically conjure a tiny quill into your free hand. You can dismiss it also with a bonus action. The quill doesn’t require ink. When you write with it, it produces ink in a color of your choice on the writing surface. You can erase anything you write with the quill as a bonus action, provided the text is nearby.
- The time and material cost you must spend copying a spell into your spellbook is halved when using these implements. Additionally, the cost and time to scribe spell scrolls is halved.
- Your spellbook is awakened and can be treated as a familiar.
