Base Class: Bard
Legends speak of a rare group of bards whose songs can call upon the primal aspects of the Weave and summon great storms of power. These bards, called Stromsingers, have passed on their tradition through generations. Few are eventually chosen to learn the Storm Song, but those that do always go on to achieve amazing things.
Spells of the Storm
Stormsingers are a rare breed of bard indeed. Their powerful songs grant them magics once thought lost to the other bard colleges. Starting at 3rd level, you gain Bard spells at the Bard levels listed in the Spells of the Storm Spells table. The spells added this way are thereafter always prepared.
You also learn the shocking grasp cantrip, which will also thereafter be always prepared. For you, it has a range of 60 feet when you cast it.
Storm Spells
| Bard LEVEL | SPELLS |
|---|---|
| 1st | fog cloud, thunderwave |
| 3rd | gust of wind, shatter |
| 5th | lightning bolt, thunder step |
| 7th | ice storm, storm sphere |
| 9th | control winds, maelstrom |
Spark of Inspiration
Starting at 3rd level, when you become a Storm Singer, the inspiration that you grant your companions is infused with raw storm energies. Whenever you grant Bardic Inspiration to a creature, roll the Inspiration Die and you deal that much lightning damage to a number of creatures up to your Proficiency bonus within 10 feet of the inspired creature.
Forked Lightning
At 3rd level, you can take the force of your ally's strikes and call upon a song of lightning to send a forked blast to additional enemies.
As a reaction when a creature within 60 feet of you takes damage from a source other than you, you may use an Inspiration Die to force up to two new targets within 20 feet of the original creature to make a Dexterity save against your spell casting DC.
On a fail, the new targets take lightning damage equal to half of the damage dealt to the original creature, and they take half of that damage on a success. You must have line-of-sight to all relevant creatures to use this ability.
Booming Voice
At 6th level, when you sing to the skies, your voice carries with the volume of a thunderclap. As an action on your turn, you may consume a spell slot to force every creature within 15 feet of you to make a Strength saving throw against your spell casting DC.
On a failure, for every level of the spell consumed, a creature takes 1d8 thunder damage and is thrown backwards 5 feet. On a save, a creature takes half that damage and is not thrown backwards. This explosive blast of thunder produces a loud bang that can be heard up to 100 feet away.
Storm Song
At 14th level, the College of Storm Singers deems you strong enough to be taught the legendary Storm Song. As an action, you can summon a storm in an area you can see within 120 feet. The storm is a 20 foot radius 100 foot high cylindrical column and it lasts for 10 minutes.
At the start of each of its turns, a creature inside the storm must make a Dexterity save against your spell casting DC. A creature takes 3d8 lightning and 3d8 thunder damage on a failure and half on a success. A failure of 5 points or more knocks the creature prone. Every 1 foot of movement through the area of the storm takes 4 feet of movement (5 feet requires 20 feet) and flying creatures are forced to the ground at 250 feet per turn.
The area of the storm is heavily obscured and any ranged attacks fired into or through the storm have a -10 penalty to hit. Finally, the storm counts as an extremely powerful wind for the purposes of dispersing gas, clouds, and other floating particulate effects. You may sing the Storm Song twice per long rest.
