Create Thread

CREATE THREAD

At level 3 you gain the ability to infuse thin threads with Ki, creating a Ki Tread. Forgoing one of your attacks as part of your attack action, you may instead spend 1 ki point to attach two creatures, objects, or points on a surface, via a Ki Thread. If neither targets are an unwilling creature, this ability does not have a ki cost.

These targets must be within 30ft of you, within 30ft of each other, and not be an object worn or carried. The Ki Tread created is exactly as long as the original distance between the two targets. If the first target is yourself, and the second target is an object weighing 10lb or less, you may reel the target up to 30ft towards yourself as part of the attack action.

Ki Threads are non-magical, and near-invisible, requiring a Wisdom (Perception) check against your Ki save DC to detect. They have an AC of 10+ your wisdom modifier, HP equal to your Monk level, are resistant to bludgeoning, cold, and thunder damage, immune to psychic and poison damage, and can hold up to 1102lb (500kg). If your Ki Thread is made to make a saving throw, it uses your dexterity save modifer. Creatures, objects, or points on a surface attached by Ki Treads act as if connected by rope. You may use your dexetrity score instead of strength on all checks relating to this effect. A creature can, at the end of its turn, attempt to end this effect with a strength save vs your ki save DC. The Ki Threads created from this feature last for 1 minute, unless they are destroyed or you dispel them earlier (no action required)..

Control Tether

CONTROL TETHER

Starting at level 6, you may forgo one of your attacks as part of your attack action to shorten the Ki Thread connecting two targets.

When this ability is used, any creatures effected may make a strength save vs your ki save DC or be pulled up 30ft towards the other tethered target.

The Dungeon Master decides if both targets are pulled towards each other equally, or if one is pulled towards the other. If both targets weigh more than 440lb (200kg) the Dungeon Master can rule that neither target is pulled. When a creature is pulled in this manner, you can opt to knock them prone as part of this movement.

If they are pulled the entire length of the Ki Thread, you can choose to have them also be restrained, which lasts until the Ki Thread is destroyed or its effect ends.

Bladed Threads

 BLADED THREADS

At 11th level, the range for Create Thread and Control Tether increases to 60ft. Control Tether can now retract up to 60ft in one action.

Additionally your Ki Threads become razor-sharp hazards. When a creature passes between two targets that are tethered, you can choose to have them make a dexterity saving throw against your Ki save DC or take slashing damage equal to 1 roll of your martial arts die and fall prone. A creature automatically succeeds at future saves from the same Ki Thread.
