Base Class: Wizard
Archivists are Wizards who have dedicated themselves to accruing knowledge even more so than the standard wizard, They do not just learn spells to cast them but to fundamentally understand how they function and change the world around them, allowing them to additionally manipulate the spells down to the way they destroy, control and create things in the spaces that encase them, and can learn to perfect their craft so then all spells are as fluid as the ink was before it had been used to write them down.
Living Archive
You've figured out that the mere book is weak and can be destroyed thusly you have learnt to inscribe your spells directly onto your mortal flesh, You can use your body as an Arcane Focus, even if you lack a physical one. Your spells cannot be removed from you unless they are burned away by being bathed in holy fire, You may cast a spell that isn’t prepared a number of times per short or long rest equal to your proficiency bonus. Additionally, when you cast a wizard spell using a spell slot, you may change its damage type to that of another spell in your spellbook.
Mind Vault
The teachings of your order have unlocked a secret known to only a select few: You've created a demi-plane, This Demi-plane automatically collects bits of lore that you discover and documents it so you can then access it during your sleep. Each short or long rest you can choose an amount of intelligence based skills equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down, Until your next short or long rest you have advantage on the skills you picked, and you double your proficiency bonus for said skill.
Arcane Restructuring
You've gained the ability to dissolve and reshape your spell slots, converting them into spell points which you can then use to create new spell slots. The number of spell points gained or required depends on the spell level, as shown below:
| Required Wizard Level | Spell Slot | Spell Points |
|---|---|---|
| 6th | 1st | 1 |
| 6th | 2nd | 2 |
| 6th | 3rd | 3 |
| 7th | 4th | 4 |
| 9th | 5th | 6 |
- You may dissolve any spell slot of 5th level or lower into a number of spell points equal to the slot's level (except for 5th-level slots, which yield 6 points).
- You can then spend these points to create new spell slots (You cannot create a spell slot above level 5). The cost of creating a new slot is equal to the spell slot's level in points (except for 5th-level slots, which always require 6 points).
For example, dissolving a 5th-level spell slot gives you 6 points, which can be used to create two 3rd-level spell slots or three 2nd-level spell slots.
The caveat is that this ability stresses your mind, thusly you can only use this ability a number of times per Long rest equal to your Intelligence Modifier
Altering Formula
You've gained the ability to alter your spells in ways previously unknown to arcane scholars. When you cast a spell that requires a saving throw, you can temporarily change the saving throw type to that of another spell in your spellbook, Additionally, when casting a spell with an area of effect (such as a radius or cone), you can change the area of effect to match that of another spell in your spellbook. Both spells must be of the same level or lower. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum once) per long rest.
Master of the Archive
You have officially mastered your Archival recall, As a result the spell slot level restriction is reduced on your Arcane Restructuring ability, allowing you to dissolve and create 6th and 7th level spell slots, as well you can add your proficiency bonus to the amount of times you can use your Arcane Restructuring ability per long rest, The table is as follows:
| Required Wizard Level | Spell Slot | Spell Points |
|---|---|---|
| 14th | 6th | 8 |
| 14th | 7th | 10 |
Additionally you gain the following benefits
- Due to the perfection of your Mind Vault, Any check to recall information automatically succeeds, thus giving you a photographic memory.
- Once per long rest you can cast the spell Legend Lore without consuming a spell slot and without using any components.
- You've perfected your process of inscribing spells onto your flesh with the Living Archive ability, You thus can inscribe spells onto your skin regardless of whether or not they are on your spell list, however you must spend 1.5x the amount of time and gold inscribing it into your skin.
