The Amethyst Bookkeeper is a prestigious wizard subclass dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and mastery of the arcane arts. Following the teachings of Behi Mot Barum, the ancient Amethyst Elephant Lord, these scholars safeguard knowledge and magic through a mystical bond with their Soulbound Tome—a powerful artifact that grows in strength alongside the Bookkeeper's magical prowess.

The Price of Betrayal:
Betraying the teachings of Behi Mot Barum results in severe consequences. The tome will turn against the Bookkeeper, severing the connection to its archive and potentially cursing its former master to prevent misuse of knowledge.

Soulbound Tome

Upon choosing this subclass at 3rd level, you forge a mystical connection with a Soulbound Tome—an indestructible magical artifact bound to your soul. This tome evolves with you, protecting and recording knowledge even beyond death. If lost or destroyed, it magically returns to your side after 1 hour. Additionally:

• Rune of Return: The tome bears a rune that allows it to teleport to a designated "home" location upon your death or if it is lost. You can teleport to this home location once per long rest. (10m to cast)
• Tome Proficiency: You gain proficiency in the Arcana skill and one other skill of your choice while bound to your Soulbound Tome.

Knowledge Exchange

your Soulbound Tome allows you to communicate telepathically with other Amethyst Bookkeepers regardless of distance. Once per long rest, you may ask for advice, share knowledge, or request a spell. This is similar to the Sending spell but limited to other Amethyst Bookkeepers.

Forbidden Knowledge

Your tome allows you to access and cast spells from any class’s spell list as long as they are written within your tome. These spells count as Wizard spells for you but are limited by your available spell slots and spell level.

Arcane Chapter

At 10th level, your tome unlocks a new chapter of power, granting you one of the following enhancements:

• Ward of Insight: As an action, you can project a magical ward from your tome, granting you or an ally temporary hit points equal to your Intelligence modifier + your Wizard level. This lasts for 1 minute or until depleted.

• Amethyst Wisdom: You gain expertise in one skill in which you are proficient, doubling your proficiency bonus when using that skill.

• Expanded Spell Capacity: You can prepare one additional spell, provided it is inscribed in your Soulbound Tome.

At 14th level, your connection to Behi Mot Barum’s original tome allows you to draw directly from ancient knowledge. Once per long rest, you can ask your tome for insight, allowing you to learn about current situations, mysteries, or events.

Amethyst Tome Defense

• The Soulbound Tome grants you increased protection. When you take damage, you can use your reaction to absorb an amount of damage equal to your Wizard level. This can be used once per long rest.
