Druid
Base Class: Druid

The Circle of Skylights allows druids to draw on the power of stars. These druids have tracked heavenly patterns since time immemorial, discovering secrets hidden amid the constellations. By revealing and understanding these secrets, the Circle of the Skylights seeks to harness the powers of the cosmos.

Many druids of this circle keep records of the constellations and the stars’ effects on the world. Some groups document these observations at megalithic sites, which serve as enigmatic libraries of lore. These repositories might take the form of stone circles, pyramids, petroglyphs, and underground temples— any construction durable enough to protect the circle’s sacred knowledge even against a great cataclysm.

Skylights Circle Spells

At 2nd level, your bond with the stars above grants you spells that are fueled by their power.

When you reach a Druid level specified in the Circle of Skylights Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Astral Shard

At 2nd Level, you look to the ancient light of the stars for guidance, as many druids before you have. The cosmos has deemed you worthy for doing so, and has thus gifted you a fragment of its radiance.

You now have in your possession a crystal shard, known as an Astral Shard. If placed before or within light or fire, the shard magically projects a spherical map of the stars in the night sky, which is a 10 ft. emanation centered around it. For the purposes of navigation, this projected map can act as a star chart.

During nighttime, you can draw power from the shard through meditation by peering into it for 1 hour. After meditating in this way, you gain the following benefits for the next 24 hours:

  • Ever-sleeping Stargazer. You gain the benefits of sleeping, even while you are awake. Furthermore, you can't be forcibly put to sleep by magical means.
  • Of Light and Flame. Whenever an attack, spell, or druid class feature of yours deals fire damage, you can choose to deal radiant damage instead. You can also convert radiant damage into fire damage in the same way if you so choose.
  • Skylight Spell-weave. You know and can cast the Guidance and Starry Wisp cantrips. Furthermore, the shard can serve as a spellcasting focus for your druid spells.

If you lose the shard or if it is destroyed, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to magically create a replacement. A lost shard is destroyed upon this ceremony's completion. The ceremony can be performed during a short or long rest, but can only be performed during nighttime. The ceremony also functions as a 1-hour meditation to draw power from the new shard.

Zodiac Veil

At 2nd Level, you can extract but a fraction of the cosmic power emanating from skylights, uncountable.

As a bonus action, you can expend either a use of your Wild Shape feature or a spell slot of 1st level or higher to summon and envelop yourself within an aura of stardust, known as a Zodiac Veil. While the veil is present, your body becomes luminous, causing you to emit dim light in a 30 ft. emanation. Any of your physical features that you so choose glimmer like stars, and glowing lines connect them as though you were a constellation on a star chart.

When you summon your Zodiac Veil, choose one of the following constellations. Your veil takes the form of the chosen constellation and the effect of that form occurs. The effect occurs as part of the veil's summoning or as a bonus action on your subsequent turns of its presence:

Aries. A stardust aura in the shape of a ram envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you must make a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failing, your target is shoved up to 15 ft. away if it is Large or smaller (and only 5 ft. away if it is bigger than Large).

Aquarius. A stardust aura in the shape of a chalice envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you gains resistance against one of the following damage types of your choice: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or poison. This lasts until the start of your next turn or until your target is dealt damage of the chosen damage type.

Cancer. A stardust aura in the shape of a crab envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failing, it becomes restrained until the start of your next turn or until it takes damage.

Capricorn. A stardust aura in the shape of a horned mermaid envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failing, it becomes charmed by you until the start of your next turn or until it takes damage.

Gemini. A stardust aura in the shape of twin children envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you gains a +2 bonus to its AC. This lasts until the start of your next turn or until your target takes damage.

Leo. A stardust aura in the shape of a lion appears around you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failing, it becomes frightened by you until the start of your next turn or until it takes damage.

Libra. A stardust aura in the shape of a balance scale envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you gains a +2 bonus to the next saving throw it makes. This lasts until the start of your next turn or until your target makes a saving throw.

Pisces. A stardust aura in the shape of two fish envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you gains a +10 ft. bonus to its movement speed. This lasts until the start of your next turn or until your target takes damage.

Sagittarius. A stardust aura in the shape of a winged hunter envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
You cast the Starry Wisp cantrip. However, your target must be within 30 ft. of you, or else you automatically miss.

Scorpio. A stardust aura in the shape of a scorpion envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failing, it becomes poisoned or blinded (your choice) until the start of your next turn or until it takes damage.

Taurus. A stardust aura in the shape of a bull envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you must make a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. Upon failing, your target is stunned until the start of your next turn or until it takes damage.

Virgo. A stardust aura in the shape of a virgin woman envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A creature of your choice that you can see within 30 ft. of you gains a +2 bonus to its next attack roll. This lasts until the start of your next turn or until your target makes an attack roll.

When summoned, your Zodiac Veil is present for 1 minute, until you dismiss it (no action required), until you are incapacitated or die, or until you use this feature again.

Flames of the Constellations

At 6th Level, you can pull down the light of the constellations into yourself in order to take claim of their hold on fate. As a result, those who fight alongside you may see another day, and those who oppose you may not.

When you expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher to summon your "Zodiac Veil," that feature is amplified for its duration in the following way:

The 30 ft. emanation of dim light becomes bright light instead. At the end of each of your turns, one creature of your choice that is within this bright light is wreathed in celestial, fate-altering flame. The flames grant it 2d8 temporary Hit Points, which last until the end of your next turn. Once per turn, when a creature deals damage with an attack or spell while having these temporary Hit Points, it can expend up to its current amount as part of the same action (no action required). Upon doing so, the amount expended is added as a bonus to one damage roll dealt by the creature's attack or spell. This additional damage is fire damage.

If you had expended a spell slot of 4th level or higher to summon your "Zodiac Veil," the amount of temporary Hit Points granted by it is increased by 1d8 for every two slot levels above 3rd. If you had instead expended a use of your Wild Shape feature to summon your "Zodiac Veil," this feature functions as though you had expended a spell slot of 3rd level.

Celestial Realignment

At 10th Level, the guidance of the skylights has granted you the ability to realign yourself among the astral energies you have drawn upon for power.

While your "Zodiac Veil" feature is present, you can use a bonus action to change the current constellation form into another form of your choice. Whenever changing a constellation form in this way, the effect of the new form occurs.

Fate of One Who Weaves the Stars

At 14th Level, your oneness with the skylights has given you the wisdom of the fates. In gaining such foreknowledge, your welcoming of destiny has become as deeply powerful as your ability to weave and control it.

When you cast either the Divination or Legend Lore spell, you can replace the material component with your Astral Shard, which will not be consumed by the spell. However, you can only do so for the Legend Lore spell once per long rest.

Additionally, if your "Zodiac Veil" feature is present and amplified, and you use a bonus action to cause the effect of a constellation form to occur, you can roll a d12 as part of the same action (no action required). Upon doing so, an additional effect of your veil occurs. This exact effect is determined by the number rolled on the d12, as indicated in the Constellations table below. If the result rolled for this feature is the same as your current constellation form, the effect of any constellation form of your choice occurs instead.
