Monk
Base Class: Monk

While other monks attempt to refine their abilities in a specific fighting style, however, monks who follow the Way of Perfection believe that one must strive to succeed in all ways. To do this, the monks must use their connection to their ki to achieve what many see as impossible with relative ease. By achieving their perfection through critical successes, they can even regain their ki to continue their striving for perfection. However, running out of ki through their constant failures may spell out doom for them.

Reach For Perfection

Starting at level 3, Whenever you make an attack, before you roll, you can spend any amount of ki points to reduce the number required to score a critical hit by 1 for each ki point spent. If the attack misses, you regain half the amount of ki points spent. No matter how far you reduce a critical hit by, a natural 1 still counts as a miss. The reduction is only accounted for when resolving this attack.

Sudden Knowledge

At level 6, whenever you make an ability or skill check, you may spend a ki point. If you do, you gain proficiency in the ability or skill related to the check. If you already have proficiency in the ability or skill, you gain expertise in it instead. This effect lasts until you take a long rest or decide to use this ability again. At level 15, you can spend a ki point to apply the same effect to saving throws.

Perfectionist's Reward

At 11th level, whenever you score a critical hit, or roll a 20 on any check or saving throw, you gain a number of ki points equal to a roll of your martial arts die.

The Great Choice

Beginning at 17th level,  a Way of Perfection monk must decide whether to continue striving for perfection or to find inner peace knowing perfection is an impossible task. Choose one of the following abilities to gain.

Grasp Perfection

Whenever you land a critical hit on an enemy, you may spend a ki point to make another attack with the same action.

Perfection of Imperfection

Whenever you miss an attack or fail a check or saving throw, you gain a ki point.
