Base Class: Monk
To some, the greatest burden in life is suffering. Many warriors undertake training to avoid it, others strike first and prevent it, and there are others still who choose to embrace it. By embracing the destruction life inflicts on oneself is to remove the chains of despair. These disciples know agony cannot replace joy and fulfillment, it merely stalls these virtues, and by overcoming it one can find peace and seek out the boons of the universe, unhindered. The masters of this path are not the strongest or bravest warriors to exist. Instead, they have honed themselves to become as resilient possible, to show others how truly powerless pain can become.
By channeling your focus into an ever-flowing, internal force coursing through your body while training to free your mind from pain you can shrug off blows that would devastate a normal warrior. The strongest of this discipline are known for embracing the most deadly attacks and replying with unfaltering blows. Some eventually learn to harness this unbreakable durability to decimate their fragile opponents. All the while using this power to fortify their own defense.
Enduring Body
At level 3 your training allows you to reinforce your entire body allowing you to shrug off blows and take more hits than ever before. Also by refining your focus you’re able to block the unblockable.
As a bonus action you may spend 1 focus point to gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage for 1 minute. This ability is considered concentration, as with concentration on a spell, however you may use either your constitution or wisdom for the saving throw. At lvl 7 you gain advantage on this saving throw.
Also at 3rd level you can deflect any targeted attack regardless of damage type besides Psychic damage with your Deflect Attack reaction. If you reduce the damage to zero you may spend a focus point to redirect the damage as described by the Deflect Attack feature however the damage becomes Force damage.
Impervious Soul
At level 6 your mastery of your techniques allows you to augment your body to enhanced levels that empower your monk abilities. You may now use focus to rebuke strikes made against you.
When you take the Patient Defense stance as a bonus action any creature that strikes you with a melee attack takes force damage equal to your wisdom modifier. A creature takes this damage only once per turn.
In addition, when you achieve the ability Heightened Focus whenever the temporary hitpoints you receive from your monk abilities remain at the beginning of your next turn you may choose to convert them into hit points. You may do this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all uses when you finish a long rest.
Acclimated
At level 11 Excruciating pain holds no sway over you anymore. As a reaction before taking damage you may spend 3 focus points to double your current temporary hitpoints for a minute. You regain this ability after taking a short or long rest.
In addition whenever you spend a focus point while taking the Patient Defense Bonus Action you make forego taking the Dodge action granted by the feature and instead roll an additional martial arts die when determining your temporary hitpoints.
Meteoric Blows
At level 17 your strikes serve to steady your resolve and reinforce your unbreakable body. While taking the attack action on your turn you may spend 3 focus points to make each unarmed strike deal an additional 1D8 force damage. You also gain temporary hit points equal to the total amount of force damage inflicted. This ability can be used with flurry of blows.
