Base Class: Fighter
The Ruthless Charger is a fighter who masters the art of overwhelming force through sheer speed and surprise. By charging headlong into battle, these warriors can knock enemies off their feet, slam them into walls, and disrupt the battlefield with their unstoppable power. As they gain experience, Wardens of Momentum become faster and more difficult to stop, using their relentless motion to crush foes, destabilize formations, and strike with devastating impact. These fighters excel in close combat, turning their speed into strength, battering enemies with the force of their charges and controlling the flow of the fight with their constant momentum.
Charge Master
Charge Attack: If you move at least 20 feet in a straight line before attacking, you can make a special Charge Attack. On a hit, the target must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone. If the target is within 5 feet of a wall or other solid object, it is also slammed into it, taking an additional 1d6 bludgeoning damage.
Sudden Momentum: When you make an attack as part of your Action Surge, you can immediately move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks before or after your attack.
Momentum Surge (Bonus Movement): Your speed increases by 5 feet. This movement bonus increases to 10 feet at 7th level and 15 feet at 15th level.
Defensive Roll (Scaling Defense): When you successfully knock a target prone with your Charge Attack, you can immediately brace yourself or roll with the momentum. You gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus + your fighter level divided by 4 (rounded down). These temporary hit points last until the start of your next turn.
Crushing Impact
At 7th level, your momentum crushes those who stand in your way.
Wall Slam: When you successfully push a creature into a wall or obstacle using your Charge Attack, they take an additional 1d6 bludgeoning damage. The damage increases to 2d6 at 15th level.
Momentum Shift: After charging, you can regain your footing quickly. When you knock a creature prone with a Charge Attack, you can use your reaction to either move up to 10 feet or make an attack against another creature within 5 feet of you.
Momentum Surge: Your speed increases by an additional 5 feet (total +10 feet).
Unstoppable Force
At 10th level, you become a force that cannot be easily stopped.
Momentum Defense: When you are charging (i.e., moving 20 feet or more straight toward an enemy), you have advantage on saving throws against being frightened or paralyzed.
Charge Through: If you move through an enemy's space during your Charge Attack, they take 1d6 bludgeoning damage and must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone.
Thundering Rush
At 15th level, your charges create shockwaves, destabilizing the battlefield.
Thunderous Impact: When you hit with a Charge Attack, all creatures within 10 feet of your target must make a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all uses after a long rest.
Endless Momentum: If you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a Charge Attack, you can immediately move up to half your speed and make another attack as part of the same action.
Momentum Surge: Your speed increases by an additional 5 feet (total +15 feet).
Unyielding Charge
At 18th level, your mastery of momentum allows you to become a nearly unstoppable force on the battlefield.
Relentless Charge: When you make a Charge Attack, you can move through enemies' spaces without expending extra movement, and you have advantage on attack rolls made as part of the charge. You also no longer provoke opportunity attacks during your charge.
Force of Nature: When you use your Action Surge, you can make two Charge Attacks, each against a different target.
