Speed and precision are the principles of those who practice the Way of the Eastern Blade. Striking your opponent before they strike you, moving as quick as lightning. In order to realize this ideal, practitioners study various techniques to increase their speed and forgo those that would increase their physical strength. The one thought when it comes to battle is to be like lightning.

Blessed by the Storm

At 3rd level, you have trained your body to become resistant to lightning damage in order to perfect your art.

Intense Focus

Starting at 3rd level, you learn to move your body more efficiently in a way that allows you to move quicker. As a bonus action, you enter a concentrative trance that focuses on how your body moves. By reducing the amount of wasted movement, you increase your movement speed by 15 feet. While in this trance, you may make an additional attack as a bonus action. This trance lasts for the next minute.

You can use this a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per Long Rest.

Flash Step

At 7th level, you have trained your body to move at super fast speeds. As a bonus action, you can disappear in a flash of lightning and reappear at a point you can see within 30 feet. If a creature is within 5 feet of the space you reappear in, they must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 4d6 lightning damage or half as much on a success.

Damage increases by 2d6 at 10th level and additionally again at 15th level

Storm Brand

At 10th level, you become adept in harnessing your control over the essence of the storm. As an action, you can attempt to touch a creature and mark them with a Storm Brand. They must make a CON saving throw or become branded. Branded creatures take 4d6 lightning damage each time they make an attack or cast a spell. The brand lasts for 1 minute or if the creature takes an action to remove the brand. Brands do not stack on the same creature, but multiple brands can be active at the same time.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier per Long Rest

Eastern Style: Zero Stance

Starting at 15th level, you can use your action to enter a special stance. While in this stance:

  • Your speed becomes 0
  • You gain tremor sense out to 30 feet
  • When you are hit with an attack, you gain a reaction that allows you to strike back at the creature that hit you
  • You gain resistance to consecutive damage types (i.e. you get hit by 3 scorching rays. The first ray is normal damage and you gain resistance to fire damage for the next two rays) 

Eastern Style: Thunder Bison

Starting at 18th level, you learn to fully control the essence of the storm. You clad you body in lightning energy and call down lightning strikes around you. You can forgo your attack action to choose a number of creatures within 60 feet of you equal to your intelligence modifier and strike them with lightning. Each chosen creature must make a DEX saving throw or take 10d8 lightning damage, or half as much on a success. 

You can use this feature three times per Long Rest
