Base Class: Warlock
With shaking hands, a down-on-his-luck bank clerk held the strange mask to his face, rainbow lightning crackling across his body as he transformed into a whirlwind of smoke and laughter. In moments, a striking figure in an extravagant suit, sporting an impossibly wide grin, stood in his place. "Ssssmokin'!" he exclaimed, running gloved hands over his bald green head before leaping through the window to seek his next audience.
Your patron is a being of pure anarchy, using you as a conduit for chaos and transforming you into a creature of humour and wickedness through a magical artifact.

Madness Personified
Starting at 1st level, you have been saddled with a cursed artifact that can endow you with incredible abilities. This artifact can take various forms, with several options listed in the table below. Your artifact cannot be further than 30 feet from you at any time, and will magically reappear on your person if it is destroyed or taken. As an action, you can don or activate your artifact and transform for up to 1 minute. While transformed, your appearance and personality become exaggerated and cartoonish, granting you the following abilities:
- You have resistance to bludgeoning damage, and immunity to bludgeoning damage from falling.
- You have advantage on Dexterity checks and saving throws.
- You are immune to Exhaustion and being Paralyzed.
- As a bonus action, you can conjure a single nonmagical weapon or object from thin air within 5 feet of you. The object must be no bigger than 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide, such as a ladder or anvil, and cannot weigh more than 1000 pounds. Objects conjured in this way will disappear at the end of your transformation.
Once your transformation ends, you gain a level of exhaustion that cannot be removed magically. These levels are temporarily negated while you are transformed. Being reduced to 0 hit points or killed will dispel your transformation. You cannot stop this transformation willingly.
Trickster Artifacts
| d6 | Artifact |
|---|---|
| 1 | An ancient wooden mask with iron bracings. |
| 2 | An aged copper coin with heads on both sides. |
| 3 | A deck of cards with too many jokers and aces. |
| 4 | An ornate puzzle box made of tarnished gold. |
| 5 | A silver flask with a secret pouch inside. |
| 6 | A gambler's hat with hidden pockets. |
Warped Personality
Also at 1st level, your mind is locked in a constant battle between sanity and madness. Each time you transform, flip a coin. If the result is not what you called, you gain a new personality trait and lose a previous one, determined randomly or chosen by your DM. Listed below are several suggested options.
In addition, your patron demands entertainment, often through displays of violence. You gain proficiency with martial weapons, improvised weapons and firearms.
| d8 | Personality Trait |
|---|---|
| 1 | I'm an outrageous flirt, constantly seeking a new companion to idolize me. |
| 2 | Pranking the people around me is the greatest joy in life, even if they don't survive the joke. |
| 3 | I'm the main character in a hilarious story, with observers only I can see. |
| 4 | Everyone loves me, even those that try to hurt me. They're simply jealous! |
| 5 | The greatest joke of all is a ridiculous death. |
| 6 | Vengeance will be mine, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun (for me, anyway)! |
| 7 | Mortals don't realise that I'm secretly my patron, using this vessel for entertainment! |
| 8 | Everything I want belongs to me, so stealing is impossible! |
Bag of Tricks
At 6th level, your control over local reality allows you to empower your creations with magic. While in your transformation, objects and weapons you conjure can be imbued with magic, if you choose them to be. Magical weapons made in this way have a +1 bonus to their attack and damage rolls, and do not require ammunition. You can also conjure an entire set of tools, provided you have proficiency with them.
In addition, your patron can bless you with knowledge and talents to help spread chaos. At the end of each long rest, you can choose a skill, tool proficiency or language you do not have and temporarily learn it. This proficiency lasts until you use this feature again.
Slapstick
At 10th level, your manipulation of space around you can shift the narrative, introducing subtle changes that can cause devastating cascades. As a reaction, you can cause one of the following effects to target a creature within 30 feet of you:
Light Bulb: The creature gains advantage on their next ability check within 1 minute.
Live Fish: The creature must make a Strength saving throw or have an object they are holding replaced by a live fish, with the original object appearing in an unoccupied space of your choosing within the area.
Falling Anvil: The creature must make a Constitution saving throw or be Stunned until the end of their next turn.
Banana Peel: The creature of your choosing must make a Dexterity saving throw or fall Prone.
Surprise Rake: The creature must make an Intelligence saving throw or take 1d8 magical bludgeoning damage.
Squirting Flower: The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw or be Blinded until the end of their next turn.
Pie to the Face: The creature must make a Charisma saving throw or be compelled to spend their next action cleaning the pie from their face.
You can use this ability an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Plot Armor
At 14th level, you can change the story on the fly to protect yourself, becoming as tough and malleable as a living animation. While you are transformed, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain immunity to bludgeoning damage.
- You gain resistance to piercing and slashing damage.
- When you take damage from a type you do not have resistance or immunity to, you can use your reaction to gain resistance to it until the end of your transformation. This includes the triggering instance of damage, and can only be used once per transformation.
In addition, your body becomes suspended in time, a frame of animation made real. You do not age, and you are immune to magical ageing effects.
