Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Veils are masters of deception, stealth, and manipulation. Living in the liminal space between light and dark, they use subtle magic and cunning to mislead their foes and protect their allies. These bards can slip into the shadows at a moment’s notice, weaving illusions and trickery to control the battlefield with finesse and precision.

Drawing upon the power of darkness and misdirection, they excel at creating confusion and exploiting openings. Their abilities allow them to inspire their allies while obscuring the intentions of their enemies, turning the tide of combat with a well-placed word or the flicker of an illusion. Whether in battle or in court, the College of Veils bard is always several steps ahead, their true intentions shrouded in mystery.

Shadowy Influence

  • Shadowslip: You can teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that’s in dim light or darkness as a bonus action. After teleporting, you can make a Stealth check with advantage as part of the same bonus action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

  • Silent Step: You gain proficiency in Stealth and Sleight of Hand. If you are already proficient in either of these, choose another from the Bard skill list.

Misdirection Melody

Your mastery of subtle manipulation allows you to confuse enemies when you inspire your allies. When you grant an ally Bardic Inspiration, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the next attack roll made against them before the start of your next turn. You twist the perception of your enemy, causing them to hesitate or misjudge their target.

Cloak of Deception

Your mastery of shadows allows you to weave darkness around yourself, disappearing from sight when needed. At 6th level, you gain the following abilities:

  • Cloak of Shadows: As a bonus action, you can become invisible for up to 1 minute. While invisible, you have advantage on Stealth checks. The invisibility ends if you attack, cast a spell, or perform an action that directly affects another creature. You can use this ability once per short or long rest.

  • Veil of Vanishing: You can cast Invisibility once per long rest without expending a spell slot. The spell lasts for its full duration (up to 1 hour) or until you attack or cast a spell.

Master of Shadows

At 14th level, you master the art of blending into darkness and using deception to avoid danger. Your ability to manipulate shadows and create illusions allows you to stay one step ahead of your enemies.

  • Shadowmeld: While you are in dim light or darkness, you can use an action to become invisible for up to 10 minutes. This invisibility ends if you attack, cast a spell, or move into bright light. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

  • Shroud of Lies: As a reaction, when you are targeted by an attack or forced to make a saving throw, you can expend a use of Bardic Inspiration to create an illusory duplicate of yourself. The duplicate takes the attack or saving throw in your place, then vanishes. You can use this feature once per short or long rest.
