Base Class: Bard
The bards of the College of Shredding, commonly refered to as rock stars, see beauty in the chaos and freedom following the Words of Creation, and the cycle of creation and destruction. These bards have been awestruck by the destructive and chaotic capabilities of powerful extraplanar beings and/or natural disasters, and seek to emulate the wild freedom from the aftermath of a visit by these forces. Rock stars create instruments that can help them shape or destroy the world around them to spread anarchy and inspire the same awe in others that they themselves have witnessed. As they spread their music and their message of anarchy, bards of the College of Shredding gain a following and reputation; whether they are famous, infamous, or something in between, is based off of the actions they've taken on their journey. However, wherever they go, excitement follows.
Fight the Power
At 3rd level, you've learned to sow seeds of anarchy into the hearts and minds of those who view your performances. You can choose a number of creatures up to 3 + your Bard level, and after speaking to them or performing for them for a minute, you gain a bonus to Charisma (Persuasion or Deception) checks made against them in order to convince them to act in a rebellious or defiant manner. The bonus is equal to your proficiency bonus and these checks are made with advantage.
Instrument of Destruction
At 3rd level, you can spend an hour to create an instrument that safely channels your destructive and chaotic magic. Choose any nonmagical, two-handed, heavy weapon without the reach property. You gain proficiency in that weapon if you don't already have it, and are able to wield it without the necessary Strength score. In addition, it gains the following benefits while you wield it:
- You gain a bonus to attack rolls equal to your Charisma modifier.
- You deal additional thunder or force damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die, you choose which type on a hit.
- You gain the mastery property of the weapon's type.
- The weapon gains the Finesse property.
If you create another Instrument of Destruction, the previous one can be played as an instrument and wielded as a weapon but it loses its magical properties.
Chaos Chords
At 3rd level, you've learned to channel the chaotic magic of creation into your songs. Once per turn, you can play a Chaos Chord, the saving throws of which are equal to your spell save DC. You learn three Chaos Chords, and another two at levels 5 and 7. If a nonmagical weapon other than your Instrument of Destruction is used to play Chaos Chords, roll a d6. On a 1, make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC or take thunder damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die as the instrument is destroyed by your magic.
Augmented Crash-Endo
Prerequisite: Level 7
When casting a damage dealing spell with an area of effect, you can expend a Bardic Inspiration to add additional thunder or force damage at a number of your Bardic Inspiration dice equal to the spell's level. This additional damage effects structures in the spell's area. If the spell involves a saving throw to reduce its damage, a successful save will also reduce the damage done by this Chord.
Diminished Chord
When a creature that you can see within 30 feet of you takes damage from a weapon or spell attack, you can use your reaction to expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to distract the attacker, reducing the damage by a number equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die + your Charisma modifier.
Discordant Dissonance
Prerequisite: Level 5
When a creature you can see within 30 feet of you casts a spell, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to play a shrieking series of notes to interrupt them. The caster makes a Constitution saving throw. On a failed throw, the spell dissipates with no effect and the caster's action, bonus action, or reaction that was used to cast the spell is wasted. If a spell slot was used to cast the spell, it isn't expended.
Major Chord
Prerequisite: Level 7
As an action, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to create a shockwave that blasts out from you in a 15 foot emanation. Creatures caught in the blast must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be pushed back a number of feet equal to 15 + your Charisma modifier and be knocked prone. If they collide with a creature, object, or structure of sizes small or larger, they take bludgeoning damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.
Minor Chord
Prerequisite: Level 5
As an action, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration in order to create a focused shockwave in a 10 foot cone. Creatures of sizes Large or smaller caught in the blast must make a Strength saving throw or be pushed back a number of feet equal to 10 + your Charisma modifier. And are knocked prone. Creatures who collide with another creature, objects, or structure of sizes small or larger take bludgeoning damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.
Power Chord
As a bonus action, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to bolster your allies' strikes. Choose a creature you can see within 30 feet of you, the next time they hit with a melee weapon attack with a or unarmed strike, all creatures within 5 feet take thunder or force damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die and are pushed 10 feet away.
Ruthless Reverb
After successfully attacking an enemy, you can expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to deal additional thunder or force damage eqal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die. In addition, the target must make a Constitution saving throw or take that damage again at the start of their next turns. They can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns to end the effect, otherwise it lasts a number of subsequent turns equal to your Charisma modifier.
Shielding Chord
When a creature within 30 feet of you that you can see is targeted by a weapon or spell attack, you may use your reaction to expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to play your Instrument of Destruction to surround that creature with a thunderous force. That creature gains a bonus to their AC equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.
Slash Chord
Prerequisite: Level 5
When you hit an enemy with your Instrument of Destruction, you may expend a use of your Bardic Inspiration to cause the resulting sound to send a wave of compressed air towards a target you can see within 30 feet of you. They must make a Dexterity saving throw or take slashing damage equal to a roll of your bardic inspiration dice + you Charisma modifier (half on successful save).
Moshing Melody
At 6th level, you've learned to magically stir the chaos in the souls of your allies during battle with your performances. As an action, you may begin playing your Instrument of Destruction. Choose a number of creatures up to you Charisma modifier (which can include yourself) to begin a wild dance, flinging their bodies around and into enemies with reckless abandon, granting them the following benefits:
- They have advantage on saving throws against effects that reduce their movement speed or incapacitate them.
- They are resistant to all damage while moving.
- Every time they move into an enemies threatened area, they can make an unarmed strike against them, dealing additional force or thunder damage equal to a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die.
This feature can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and lasts up to a minute. Ot ends early if you are incapacitated or reach 0 hp.
Arcane Anarchist
At 14th level, the chaos of creation flows through you. When performing Chaos Chords that require a roll of your Bardic Inspiration die, you add an additional die to determine the total. The bonus damage of your Instrument of Destruction is increased to two rolls of your Bardic Inspiration die.
Additionally, when using your Fight the Power feature, you can affect any number of creatures within 30 feet that can hear you, and when you convince a number of creatures equal to you 1 + your Bard level to engage in rebellious or defiant behavior in front of you, you gain a Heroic Inspiration that you lose after a long rest. You can only gain a Heroic Inspiration in this way once per long rest.
