Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

Blightseekers are artificers devoted to the study of fungi. While diverse fungi exist on the surface world, blightseekers look for unique environments that foster unpredictable and otherworldly fungal growths.

Blightseeker Spells

Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Blightseeker Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Blightseeker Spells

Artificer Level Spells
3 Entangle, Detect Poison and Disease
5 Protection from Poison, Spike Growth
9 Gaseous Form, Plant Growth
13 Blight, Confusion
17 Commune with Nature, Contagion

Mildew Expert

Starting at 3rd level, a blightseeker is an expert on fungal growths. You are proficient in the Nature skill, and can double your proficiency bonus on checks related to identifying blights, mushrooms, and poisons.

Alchemical Blight

At 3rd level, a blightseeker creates a special kind of alchemical blight that delivers a payload of engineered fungal spores to infest their targets. As an Action you can select a single creature that you can see within 30 feet of you. That creature must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 1d6 poison damage and be poisoned for a number of rounds equal to your Intelligence modifier. This damage increases by an additional 1d6 at 5th level, and again at 11th and 17th level.

A blightseeker has a number of Alchemical Blights available equal to their proficiency bonus, and replenishes them upon completing a long rest.

Fungal Engineer

Starting at 5th level, a blightseeker can produce more diverse fungi to disorient their foes. When a creature fails their save against your alchemical blight, you can replace the poisoned condition and instead make your target frightened or confused. At 9th level you can replace the poisoned condition with incapacitated or restrained. At 15th level you can replace the poisoned condition with blinded or deafened.

Alchemical Infestation

At 9th level, a blightseeker has learned how to make their alchemical blights proliferate around their targets. Your blights can now affect a 5-foot radius around your target, and the affected area becomes difficult terrain for a number of rounds equal to your Intelligence modifier. A creature must also make a saving throw against your blight when it enters the blight’s area for the first time on a turn or ends its turn there.

Biochemical Scourge

At 15th level, a blightseeker has become a master of bioengineering fungal growths. The duration of your Alchemical Blights and Infestations increases to twice your Intelligence modifier. Over the duration, the area affected by Alchemical Infestation now expands 5 feet in every direction at the start of each of your following turns. You can willingly pause this effect (no action required) but this does not pause the duration.
