Base Class: Rogue
Shadow stalkers are masters of working in the darkness and manipulating shadows often revered for their skills in infiltration and assassination. With the ability to use their shadows to scout out a location and the ability to weave magic to either distract or bypass threats that stand between them and their target, Shadow Stalkers are incredibly efficient. If you see shadows around you moving on their own, chances are you're already dead.
One With Shadows
When you choose this Archetype at 3rd level, you gain the ability to see up to 60 feet in magical and non magical darkness.
In addition, starting at 4th level, your manipulation of shadow magic has taught you how to create a solid blade of shadow that you can use as a deadly weapon. Using your Cunning Action, you can form a blade of shadow in your hand. It lasts for one minute and deals 2d6 + your Dexterity modifier psychic damage on a hit and has the finesse, light, and thrown properties (range 20/60). In addition, when you use the weapon to attack a target that is in dim light or darkness, you make the attack roll with advantage. The damage of this weapon increases by 1d6 when you reach 8th level (3d6), 12th level (4d6), and 16th level (5d6). You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). When you finish a long rest, you regain all expended uses.
Living Shadow
Beginning at 3rd level, you learn how to manipulate Shadows near to you. As a bonus action on your turn, you can summon a Shadow and command it. The Shadow cannot move more than 150 feet from you and has the following benefits:
- The Shadow treats you and any creature that is friendly to you as an ally.
- The Shadow cannot attack and does not make noise as it moves but it can interact with the world if you use a bonus action to command it. It can interact with the world in a manner similar to the Mage Hand cantrip.
- In combat, your shadow is considered an ally for the purpose of your Sneak Attack feature.
- Your shadow shares your AC, saving throws, skill proficiencies, and is immune to piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning damage from non-magical sources but only has hit points equal to your Rogue level.
The Shadow lasts for up to one hour or until it is reduced to 0 hit points or you become incapacitated at which point it fades away. As an action, you can perceive through your Shadow, seeing and hearing through its senses. While using your Shadow's senses, you are considered blinded and deafened. You can use this feature a number of times per day equal to 1 + your Wisdom modifier (Minimum of 1).
Pact Magic
Starting at 3rd level, your time in the shadows has taught you how to use limited forms of magic. See chapter 10 of the Player's Handbook for the general rules of spellcasting and chapter 11 in the Player's Handbook for the Warlock spell list. In addition, you know the Thaumaturgy cantrip and can use it as part of your Cunning Action to extinguish candles or stretch existing shadows up to 5 feet in a direction. This spell does not count against your known cantrips.
**NOTE: DDB has limitations when it comes to adding spellcasting features for subclasses. The system decides how many spell slots you get so players and DMs will need to work together to make sure players are not casting more spells than they are allowed according to the table below.
Cantrips. You learn three cantrips of your choice from the warlock spell list. You learn an additional warlock cantrip of your choice at 10th level.
Spell Slots. The Shadow Stalker Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have. The table also shows what the level of those slots is; all of your spell slots are the same level.
To cast one of your warlock spells of 1st level or higher, you must expend a spell slot. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a short or long rest.
For example, when you are 8th level, you have two 2nd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell witch bolt, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 2nd-level spell.
Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher. At 3rd level, you know three 1st-level spells of your choice from the warlock spell list.
The Spells Known column of the Shadow Stalker table shows when you learn more warlock spells of your choice of 1st level and higher. A spell you choose must be of a level no higher than what’s shown in the table’s Slot Level column for your level. When you reach 11th level, for example, you learn a new warlock spell, which can be 1st or 2nd level.
Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the warlock spells you know and replace is with another spell from the warlock spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Spellcasting Ability. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for your warlock spells, so you use your Wisdom whenever a spell refers to your spellcasting ability. In addition, you use your Wisdom modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a warlock spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier
Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier

Shadow Cloak
Starting at 9th level, your mastery of shadows grows, allowing you to cloak yourself in shadow. As a Bonus Action, you can wrap yourself in shadow for 1 minute. While wrapped in shadow, you make Stealth checks with advantage while in dim light and if you end your turn in total darkness, you become invisible until the end of your next turn or until you attack a creature or cast a spell. In addition, if you use this feature while your Living Shadow is within 15 feet of you, attacks against you and your Living Shadow are made at disadvantage. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you take a short or long rest.
Paralyzing Grasp
Starting at 13th level you have learned how to control other creatures shadows. As an action, you can command your Shadow to try and grapple a target creature. The creature makes a Dexterity Save vs your spell save DC, becoming grappled on a failure until the end of your next turn. While grappled in this manner, the creature is considered paralyzed. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
True Shadow Assassin
Beginning at 17th level, you've mastered the secrets of shadow manipulation and hold dominion over the darkness. While your Living Shadow feature is active, you can choose to have your shadow make one attack as part of your attack action. This attack deals damage equal to your Sneak Attack damage and is considered to be magical and deals the same type of damage as your attack. Your shadow can continue to attack with you for up to 1 minute or until you become incapacitated at which point it dissipates. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
