Base Class: Monk
This subclass is dedicated to sand and blinding your enemies. Monks of the Dunes are dedicated to protecting the innocent people with as minimal death as possible. Typically, Monks that follow the Way of the Dunes will prefer to sneak past enemies rather than fight. When forced to fight they will blind their enemies with sand.
Body of Sand
When you reach level 3, your body can shift into sand and back at will. You gain the following benefits:
Sand Shift. When a creature you can see makes an attack roll against you, you can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the roll as you shift your whole body into sand and dodging the attack. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.
Obscuring Sands. While lightly or heavily obscured, you can use a bonus action to become invisible while obscured.
Shifting Sands. You can move through spaces that other creatures are in, ending your turn in the same space as another creature will shunt you to the closest unoccupied space and deal 1d4 bludgeoning damage per square moved. You can also move through holes as small as 1 inch in diameter without squeezing.
Pocket Sand
When you reach level 3, once on each of your turns, you can replace one of your attacks with a blast of sand. All creatures in the square you are attacking must make a dexterity saving throw, being blinded and taking one roll of your martial arts die in bludgeoning damage on a failure.
At 11th level, the range from this attack increases to a 15ft cone, and the damage increases to 2 rolls of your martial arts die, and creatures take half damage on a successful save.
You can use this feature an equal number of times to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses per long rest. While you have no uses available, you can expend 2 ki points to use this feature again.
Altered Dunes
When you reach level 6, you gain more control over your body while you are made of sand, granting you the following benefits:
Tools of the Desert. When making an unarmed strike, you can expend 1 ki point to replace the attack with a simple weapon you are proficient in, as you shift your hand into a sandy version of that weapon.
Burrowing Sand. You gain a burrowing speed of 10ft, but you cannot burrow through objects harder than stone.
Walk of the Dunes
You can move like the sand, allowing you to sneak past foes. You gain the following benefits:
Sand Walk: You gain +10 on stealth checks if you are on solid ground.
Desert Sands. Once per turn, you can expend 1 ki point to teleport to an unoccupied space within 30ft of you that you can see.
Sandstorm. You can use your bonus action to expend 2 ki points and create a large cloud of sand in a 30ft sphere from a point you can see within 30ft. This sand heavily obscures vision for everyone except you.
When using the Tools of the Desert feature, you can also create one-handed martial weapons if you are proficient with them, and you can change the damage to a roll of your martial arts die.
Incarnate of the Desert
When you reach 17th level, you gain full control over the sand around you and in your body. As a bonus action on your turn, you can transform yourself into a large incarnate of the desert until you run out of temporary hit points, or you end this effect early as a bonus action. In this form, you size becomes one stage larger, and you gain the following benefits:
The damage from all of your attacks increases by 2d4 bludgeoning damage.
You gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed.
You gain temporary hit points equal to your 5 * your monk level.
When using the Tools of the Desert feature, you can use two-handed weapons in addition to one-handed weapons.
You can use this feature once per long rest, or you can expend 6 ki points to use it again.
