Base Class: Barbarian
Path of the Acid Drake
1. Totem Spirit
3rd Level Feature
When you choose this path at 3rd level, you form a connection with the spirit of an Acid Drake. Your totem enhances your combat abilities while raging, with a focus on draconic traits not covered by your Dragonborn abilities. While raging, you gain one of the following features:
- Corrosive Maw: Your mouth becomes a manifestation of the Acid Drake's power. You can make a bite attack as a bonus action while raging. This bite counts as a natural weapon, dealing 1d8 piercing damage + 1d6 acid damage. Once per turn, when you hit with your bite attack, you can reduce the target’s armor class by 1 until the end of your next turn, as your acid erodes their defenses.
- Venomous Fury: Your attacks are infused with the poison of an Acid Drake. Once per turn while raging, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can deal an additional 1d6 poison damage. At 10th level, this increases to 2d6 poison damage.
- Drake’s Wings: As the spirit of the Acid Drake flows through you, translucent, drake-like wings sprout from your back. While raging, you have a gliding speed of 10 feet, which allows you to glide short distances. At the end of each of your turns, if you’re still airborne, you descend gently up to 10 feet, and then fall unless you find solid ground to stand on.
2. Aspect of the Drake
6th Level Feature
Your bond with the Acid Drake spirit grants you additional draconic abilities beyond what your Dragonborn lineage provides. You gain one of the following benefits:
- Drake’s Senses: You gain darkvision with a range of 60 feet. If you already have darkvision, its range increases by 30 feet. Additionally, you gain blindsight with a range of 10 feet, allowing you to detect nearby creatures even if they are invisible or hidden.
- Acid Drake’s Carapace: Your skin hardens like an Acid Drake’s scales. Once per long rest you can use this ability to negate the damage from any one attack. This grants you more physical protection in combat, enhancing your ability to withstand blows.
- Drake’s Vigor: The corrosive spirit bolsters your vitality. When you rage, you gain temporary hit points equal to your level in barbarian. Additionally, your hit point maximum increases by 1 for every level you have in this class.
3. Spirit Walker
10th Level Feature
You can now commune with the Acid Drake spirit for insight and guidance. You can cast the commune with nature spell as a ritual, summoning the Acid Drake spirit to guide you.
Additionally, while raging, you can release a protective acid mist around yourself. As a bonus action, you create a cloud of corrosive fog in a 10-foot radius around you. The cloud moves with you, and any hostile creature that starts its turn within the cloud or moves into it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus) or take 1d8 acid damage and be blinded until the start of their next turn. The cloud lasts for 1 minute or until your rage ends.
4. Totemic Attunement
14th Level Feature
Your bond with the Acid Drake spirit allows you to channel its ultimate corrosive power. While raging, you gain the following benefits:
- Corrosive Retaliation: When a creature hits you with a melee attack, it takes acid damage equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) as your body exudes a powerful acidic aura.
- Acid Drake’s Breath: Once per rage, as an action, you can exhale a devastating 30-foot cone of acid. Each creature in the area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier), taking 6d6 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. You can use this in addition to your racial breath weapon, allowing you to tap into the full might of your Acid Drake totem.
