Ranger
Base Class: Ranger

Stalkers are relentless predators, honing their skills to ensure their prey cannot escape nor endure.  These rangers master the art of tracking with supernatural precision, marking their quarry with an unshakable sense of inevitability.  Once they set their sights on a target, escape becomes futile and survival fleeting.

At their core, Stalker's embody the inevitability of nature's hunt.  Their mastery allows them to relentlessly pursue their prey, unhindered by distractions or obstacles.  They move with deadly precision, evading retaliation while ensuring their quarry can find no respite or healing.  For a Stalker, the hunt is not just a task-it is a grim promise of an end that cannot be denied.

Level 3: Stalker's Concentration.

At 3rd level, you've learned to focus on your target without the need for concentration.  You no longer require concentration to maintain your Hunter’s Mark spell.  However, if you cast Hunter's Mark again, the original mark is lost, and you can only have one mark active at any time.

This feature is only active for attacks you make using a ranged weapon.

Level 3: Stalker's Prey

At 3rd level, you've honed your ability to track your marked target with supernatural precision.  When you mark a creature with Hunter's Mark, you always know it's location, regardless of distance, as long as it remains on the same plane of existence.

Additionally, you gain expertise in the Survival skill, allowing you to track your prey even through the most difficult terrain or conditions.

Level 7: Stalker's Perception

Your intense training as a stalker has allowed you to have enhanced reactions when threatened.

Whenever you take damage from an attack or spell you may use your reaction to move half your speed.  This movement doesn't impose opportunity attacks.

You may use Stalker's Perception a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum of 1) and regain all charges whenever you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Additionally, you can now see when any creature marked by your hunter's mark turn invisible, revealing them to you with a red outline; no matter what magical means or conditions might obscure them from others.

Level 11: Exposing Strike

At 11th level, you can now exploit weaknesses of your prey with deadly precision.  When you deal damage to a target marked by your Hunter’s Mark, you can choose to impose one of the following effects.

  • Disorienting Strike:  The target has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the start of your next turn.
  • Hindering Strike:  The target's movement speed is halved the next time they use the dash or disengage action within 1 minute of being hit by this strike.
  • Exposing Strike: Until the start of your next turn, the target has disadvantage on Stealth checks and cannot benefit from cover (including half or three-quarters cover).  You also gain advantage on Perception and Survival checks made to track the target until the end of your next turn.

Level 15: Stalker's Sentence

When you deal damage to a creature marked by your Hunter's Mark.  That target is now marked with Stalker's Sentence.  Your attacks deal an additional 1d8 necrotic damage, and whilst your Mark exists the target may not regain any hit points.

The damage from Stalker's Sentence increases to 2d8 necrotic damage at level 18.
