Base Class: Fighter
You are a direct descendant of an ancient lineage tied to the legendary Aegis clan, a divine clan that believed they protect the Gods and Mortals upon Death. The power of the Aegis flows through your veins, and its legacy manifests in your ability to defend, shield, and protect those in need. Whether through bloodline or divine blessing, you are a guardian chosen by fate to carry the mantle of protection.
Level 3: Aegis' Reprieve and Vengeful Surge of Aegis
Aegis' Reprieve
As a reaction, when within 5 feet of an enemy or ally, you can absorb 1d8 damage from an attack aimed at you or a nearby ally within 10 feet that you can see. The absorbed damage is stored in the shield, with the total amount determined by the Aegis Fury feature. The number of uses is based on your Constitution modifier, and all uses are regained after a short rest.
At level 6, absorb 2d8 damage. At level 9, absorb 3d8 damage alongside rolling a arcana check to absorb a element thrown at you into the shield. At level 12, absorb 4d8 damage
Vengeful Surge of Aegis
Use an action, when within 10 feet of an enemy, to unleash the damage stored in your shield as 1d8 Force damage against your target. The amount of damage you can use is limited by the total stored in your Aegis Fury. The number of uses is determined by your Strength modifier, and all uses are regained after a short rest. Trying to exceed your current amount of Aegis Fury will cause you to be stunned during your next turn.
At level 6, the character can retaliate with 2d8 Force damage when hit. At level 9, the retaliation increases to 3d8 damage of the current Element stored inside the shield, and the stun effect is removed. At level 12, the retaliation further improves to 4d8 damage.
Level 3: Aegis Fury
The total damage stored in the shield begins at 16 and increases at certain levels. Exceeding the current amount of Aegis Fury will result in the character being Stunned during their next turn.
At level 6, the total amount of Aegis Fury is increased to 32. At level 9, the total amount of Aegis Fury is increased to 48. At level 12, the total amount of Aegis Fury is increased to 64.
Level 3: Aegis' Resistance
You gain Resistance to a damage type of your choosing
Level 3: Aegis' Counterstrike
As a reaction, if an enemy is within 5 feet and makes a melee attack, you can parry the attack and immediately counter with an attack using your Martial Weapon.
Level 7: Aegis Resurgence
As a Bonus Action, you can absorb 2d6 damage from Shields Fury to gain temporary hit points. If used as an Action, you can absorb 3d6 damage but become Immobile for the duration.
If you use the Bonus Action for healing, you cannot use the Action Healing on the same turn.
At level 9, Bonus Action Temp HP increases to 3d6 and Action Temp HP increases to 4d6. At level 12, Bonus Action Temp HP increases to 4d6 and Action Temp HP increases to 5d6.
Level 7: Aegis' Unbound Fury
As a action, use 6d6 of Aegis Fury to attack a enemy within 20ft but become stunned for 1 turn if you exceed the current amount of Aegis Fury you currently hold. You can only use this once per long rest
At Level 9, Roll a 9d6. Level 13, roll a 12d6 and the stunned effect is removed
Level 7: Aegis of the Defender
As a Action, you can raise your shield in defense, granting you advantage on all saving throws until the start of your next turn. While the shield is raised, any creature that hits you with a melee attack takes 2d6 Force Damage as the shield channels protective energy. This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
At Level 9, gain Elemental Resistance while using Aegis of the Defender and deal 3d6 Force Damage. At Level 12, gain Resistance to all Damage while using Aegis of the Defender and deal 4d6 Force Damage
Level 10: Aegis' Elemental Guard
You gain Resistance to one chosen element (fire, ice, lightning, etc.), and you have the ability to Absorb the element of any incoming attack. To convert this absorbed element into energy for your Retaliation Ability, you must roll an Arcana check with a DC of 14. If successful, you can use the absorbed element for your retaliation, dealing damage based on the element absorbed.
At level 12, the Arcana DC required for Aegis' Elemental Guard is reduced to 7. Additionally, if the shield currently has no element absorbed, you gain the ability to make an Arcana check (DC 14) to recall and use an element from the shield's past absorptions for your retaliation ability.
Level 10: Sacrifice of Aegis
As an action, create a Force Field around you that absorbs ranged attacks or spells targeting allies. You gain resistance to elements and piercing damage, but become vulnerable to bludgeoning and slashing damage. Sacrifice of Aegis requires Concentration Saves (DC 12) to maintained. The number of uses is based on your Constitution Modifier, and all uses are regained upon a short rest.
At level 13, the Force Field also pulls in enemies within 20 feet and removes the vulnerability to bludgeoning and slashing damage.
Level 10: Aegis of the Shieldbearer
As a bonus action, roll 2d12 to grant a comrade temporary hit points via a shield. As an action, grant a comrade +3 AC. The comrade must then roll a Constitution Save (DC 15) each turn to maintain the +3 AC.
At level 13, the bonus action grants 4d12 Temp HP to a comrade, and the action grants +4 AC. However, the comrade must make a Constitution Save (DC 18) to maintain the +4 AC.
Level 10: Aegis Apparition
As a bonus action, you become one with your shield, causing it to float and hover around you, protecting you without needing to be actively held. This allows you to wield another weapon or cast spells with both hands free. While this ability is active, the shield still provides its AC bonus and can be used to intercept attacks as a reaction. The shield remains floating for up to 1 minute, or until you use your bonus action to dismiss it. You can use this ability once per short or long rest.
Level 10: Earthbound Aegis
As an action, absorb materials from the ground and air to increase your AC by +6 for 1 minute. This ability can be used once per long rest.
Level 15: Aegis' Resistance
Gain Resistance
Level 18: Aegis' Unyielding Resolve
Once per long rest, when you drop to 0 hit points, you can immediately use your reaction to reduce damage from the blow that would reduce you to 0 hit points by an amount equal to your Fighter level. You then gain temporary hit points equal to twice your Fighter level and can make one melee attack against the creature that dealt the damage before you fall unconscious.
Level 18: Aegis' Eternal Guardian
You cannot be critically hit. All attacks against you suffer a -10 penalty to both attack rolls and damage rolls, representing the unmatched protection of Aegis.
