Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Underwater Basket Weaving are experts at creating magical baskets, and using them to their fullest extent. Whether that be to cast magical spells, or to teleport from one basket to another, or to release a spell from a basket, bards of this school have plenty of options for what they can do with baskets they have weaved.

Baskets created by members of this college draw their magical powers from the water that they're created in, as well as their makers.

The college’s members can often be found in cities that border oceans, practicing their art for the entertainment of onlookers.

Level 3: Water Adaptability

When you join the College of Underwater Basket Weaving at 3rd level, you gain the ability to breathe water, as well as a swimming speed equal to 30 ft.

Weave Basket

Also at 3rd level, you learn how to create baskets underwater, and how to infuse magic into them. If you are submerged in water, you can spend a minute weaving a basket with one of the following effects:

 Basket Point Cost Effect
1

You passively know where a weaved basket is at all times.

1

The basket functions similar to a Bag of Holding. If this basket becomes nonmagical by any means, all of its contents are expelled from the basket.

1

As an action, you may reach into the basket and gain a nonmagical item relevant to your immediate situation, according to the DM's choice. Once you use this ability, the basket loses this property.

2

The basket gains the ability to store magical effects. It can hold up to 1/3 your Bard level in spells (rounded down), none of which may be greater than 5th level. Cantrips are treated as 1st level for the purpose of this effect.

2

The basket gains the properties of a Decanter of Endless Water, except that you can specify exactly how much water is produced by the decanter. It can produce up to 90 gallons of water per round, and the bonus action granted by the 'Geyser' ability does 1d4 damage per 30 gallons of water produced in a single round (rounded down).

In addition, all weaved baskets count as a Spellcasting Focus for you, and you can cast spells and use bardic inspiration while weaving baskets. Finally, you may add double your proficiency bonus to any checks involving basket creation.

You gain a number of basket points equal to 1 + your proficiency bonus + your CHA modifier (minimum of 1). If you try to weave a basket after reaching this limit, you may choose any number of baskets to make nonmagical to return back under this limit.

At 14th level, this ability is replaced with a version of itself with more options for creating baskets.

Level 6: Water Pocket

At 6th level and as a bonus action, you can create a sphere of water as the spell Watery Sphere, except that it has a 15 foot radius, doesn't require concentration, and it is centered on (and moves with) you. You are immune to any negative effects of this spell, and gain a fly speed equal to your swim speed while inside the sphere. Leaving the sphere by any means (such as using a teleportation effect) causes the effect to end.

Once you use this ability, you cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

At 7th level, you add Watery Sphere to your list of prepared spells, and can cast it to achieve the effect described above.

Weave Anything

When you reach 14th level, you gain more options for the types of baskets you can create, as well as more basket points.

You have a number of basket points equal to 5 + your proficiency bonus + your CHA modifier.

 Basket Point Cost Effect
2

The woven basket functions as if it is a tiny object permanently animated by the Animate Objects spell, except that it is capable of telepathically communicating with you while you are within 30 feet of it, and it has a swim speed of 30 feet.

3

Allows the basket to be treated as a container of any value for the purpose of any spell that requires a container as a material component. For example, the basket could serve as the material component for Magic Jar.

3 A creature can use an action to climb into the basket, and appear at another basket with this property within 1 mile. If a creature is envisioning which basket/location they wish to appear at, they teleport to that basket. Otherwise, they appear at a random basket other than the one they entered.
4

As an action, you may speak the command word, and this basket will expand to a 40 feet radius, 30 feet deep version of itself, and fill up with water. After 1 minute, the basket reverts to its original state.

DM's discretion

The basket has any property that you can come up with.
