Bard
Base Class: Bard

Bards of the College of Fidelity are educators, scholars and archivists. Their common goal is to protect what they believe to be objective truth. Collectors of obscure knowledge and keepers of meticulous records they can be found in libraries, archive buildings or performing as educators. They are often employed to tutor the young nobility but will take any opportunity to impart their hard earned knowledge to others. Be it teaching a copper street class for urchins or edifying a tavern room on the virtues of different beverages they are always exact and as accurate as possible.

Considered by many to be a necessary annoyance in maintaining the balance of misinformation and lies, as the most trusted of messengers they compete against those that would lie and rumour monger. As such any information passed on by these Bards is likely to be a complete truth, all theories and rumours inspected from every side and delivered at great length. For those willing to listen, much can be learned from these thorough pedagogues.

Bonus Proficiencies

When you join the College of Fidelity at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with History and either Investigation or Calligrapher’s Tools. If you are already proficient in History, Investigation or with Calligrapher’s Tools, choose another skill proficiency for each proficiency you already have, up to two.

Pedant's Advice

Also at 3rd level, your knowledge in a large variety of subjects means you have an opinion on almost everything and a compulsion to give that opinion at every possible interval, to the benefit or detriment of those around you.

When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check , or a damage roll, you may use your reaction to change that creature’s roll by either adding to it or subtracting from it an amount equal to your Intelligence modifier.
You can choose to use this feature after the creature makes its roll, but before the DM determines whether the attack roll or ability check succeeds or fails, or before the creature deals its damage. The creature is immune if it can’t hear you or if it’s immune to being charmed.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (a minimum of once). You regain any expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Educate the Massess

Starting at 3rd level, while lecturing a group of creatures you may instil your words with a hypnotic cadence.

If you perform for at least 10 minutes, you can attempt to bore your audience by lecturing them on a specific subject. Any creature within 60 feet is considered to be part of the audience unwilling or not but, circumstances permitting, they may choose to move out of range. At the end of the performance, choose a number of humanoids within 60 feet of you who could understand you, up to a number of them equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of one). Each target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC or be charmed by you. While charmed in this way, the target is considered Paralyzed. This effect ends on a target after 1 hour, if it takes any damage, if you attack it, or if it witnesses you attacking or damaging any of its allies. If a target succeeds on its save against this effect, the target has no hint that you tried to charm it.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Orator's Imposition

At 6th level, your ability to impose your opinion and steer logical discourse has become almost second nature.

You can cast either Calm Emotions or Zone of Truth up to a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier.

You regain any expended uses of this ability after completing a long rest.

Overwhelming Erudition

Pedagogues know well how to ensure the success or failure of their pupils or how to lead the unsuspecting into a logical trap. You have learned to recreate this with your spells.
At 14th level, once on your turn, when a creature successfully saves against your spell save DC you may use a bonus action to expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration adding the number rolled to your spell save DC. The new spell save DC remains only for the initial saving throw against your spell.
