Base Class: Warlock
The Black Mage Pact, is a pact made with mortals by a variety of patrons, to accomplish the goals the patron cannot themselves do, or to further push the patron's ideals. Whether they be Celestials or Fiends, Archfey or Aberration, everybody needs a little black magic. It allows a versatility and transformation of the base eldritch magics innate in the forming of a pact.
Level 3: Black Mage Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Black Mage Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Bane, Faerie Fire, Blindness/Deafness, Moonbeam |
| 5 | Fireball, Lightning Bolt |
| 7 | Ice Storm, Polymorph |
| 9 | Bigby's Hand, Cloudkill |
Level 3: Magus Blast
Starting at 3rd level, you add the Eldritch Blast spell to your known cantrips. It does not count against your cantrips known, and if you already know it, you pick another cantrip from the Warlock Spell List.
Additionally, when you cast Eldritch Blast, you can change the damage type to Cold, Fire, Lightning or Necrotic damage, instead of Force damage. You can choose different damage types for separate beams.
Level 6: Charged Arcana
Starting at 6th level, you can commit to a spell for it to be more powerful. Using your bonus action you concentrate on a damaging spell with a casting time of one action. On a following turn, you can cast the spell as a bonus action. When you do, if the spell requires a save, it’s made at disadvantage and if it requires a spell attack, it’s made at advantage. If the creature fails the save, or the attack hits, that damage is doubled. You can do this a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier. You regain all uses upon completing a Long Rest.
Level 10: Black Counter
Starting at 10th level, when you cast a leveled spell, you gain Counter Points equal to the spell level. As a reaction, when you see a spell cast, you can use your reaction to attempt to interrupt the spell. You expend counter points, if the amount you expend is equal to the level the spell was cast at, the spell fails. If the spell level is higher, you must make a Spellcasting (Charisma) check with a DC equal to 10+the spell’s level. You can’t have more than half your level’s Counter Points at any one time. You lose any Counter Points you have upon completing a Long Rest .
Level 14: Black Magic Mastery
Starting at 14th level, your offensive magic knows no bounds. When you cast a spell, you can cast an Evocation spell at 5th level as part of the same action, without using a spell slot. Once you’ve used this ability, you can’t do so again until you complete a Long Rest.
