Base Class: Monk
The Way of The Chimera teaches monks to channel the three primal forces of Gravity, Speed, and Regeneration, blending them into a powerful toolkit for combat and support. Monks who follow this path can switch between the three aspects at will, adapting to any situation on the battlefield.
- Gravitas gives them control over gravitational forces, allowing them to deal crushing blows and resist movement effects.
- Cleritas grants them unmatched speed and reflexes, enabling swift maneuvers and reactions to incoming attacks.
- Vitalis taps into their regenerative energy, allowing them to heal themselves and their allies, ensuring that no one falters during battle.
As they advance, Chimera monks gain the ability to connect their powers to allies, empowering them with shared benefits. At higher levels, they can channel all three aspects simultaneously for devastating bursts of power, healing, and mobility. Masters of adaptability, they are a perfect balance of offense, defense, and support, capable of turning the tide of any fight with their unique blend of abilities.
Hellhound Core
At 3rd level, you gain the ability to channel the three aspects of the Chimera. You may shift between Gravitas, Cleritas, and Vitalis, each providing a unique set of benefits to you and your allies. You can switch between these modes as a bonus action. You can remain in a single aspect for up to 1 minute, but you can switch out early if you prefer.
-
Gravitas (Gravity):
- Effect: You gain the ability to manipulate gravitational forces. While in this mode, your strikes are powerful, dealing extra force damage to enemies. You also gain the ability to momentarily immobilize enemies with a crushing force.
- Benefits: You can knock enemies prone with your unarmed strikes. You gain resistance to forced movement effects (such as being pushed or pulled).
- Strike Damage: +1d6 force damage on attacks.
-
Cleritas (Speed):
- Effect: You become a blur of motion, gaining enhanced speed and reflexes. Your body moves as a fluid extension of your mind, allowing you to dodge incoming attacks with ease and strike faster than ever before.
- Benefits: Your movement speed is increased by 10 feet. You can use your reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll targeting you.
- Speed Boost: +10 movement speed, plus reaction to impose disadvantage.
-
Vitalis (Regeneration):
- Effect: Your connection to the flow of life energy enhances your regenerative powers. You become a beacon of healing for both yourself and your allies, drawing on the vitality of the world to recover quickly from wounds.
- Benefits: You gain the ability to heal yourself and others. When you heal an ally, you also gain temporary hit points.
- Healing Touch: Regain hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier each round. You can heal one ally within 30 feet as an action.
Coiled Connection
At 6th level, you learn to share your Chimera powers with an ally, tethering them to you. This "Chimera's Connection" lets you choose an ally within 30 feet. For the duration, they gain the benefits of the aspect you're currently attuned to, but with an additional benefit tied to the strength of your connection. The connection lasts for 1 minute and can be used once per long rest.
- Gravitas Connection: The tethered ally gains temporary hit points equal to your Monk level.
- Cleritas Connection: The tethered ally can use their reaction to impose disadvantage on an attack roll targeting you or them.
- Vitalis Connection: The tethered ally heals for an additional 2d6 hit points when healed by your action.
Fusion
At 11th level, you can channel a burst of all three Chimera powers at once. As an action, you can activate Chimera's Burst, which lasts for 1 minute. During this time, you gain the benefits of all three aspects simultaneously:
- Gravitas: Your strikes now deal an additional 2d6 force damage, and any enemy you hit must make a Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
- Cleritas: You gain the ability to take an additional action on your turn, but only to Dash, Disengage, or make an unarmed strike.
- Vitalis: You and all allies within 30 feet regain hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier at the start of each of your turns.
You can only use this once per long rest.
Triple Threat
At 17th level, you fully embrace the power of the Chimera, mastering all three aspects. When you use Chimera's Burst, the following benefits are enhanced:
- Gravitas: You can choose one enemy within range to automatically fail the Strength saving throw against being knocked prone.
- Cleritas: Your speed is increased by 30 feet, and you gain advantage on all Dexterity saving throws.
- Vitalis: Allies within 30 feet heal an additional 3d6 hit points when healed by your action, and you gain a bonus to your temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier.
