Base Class: Ranger
The Gale Sharpshooter is more than a ranger—they are an extension of the wind's will. When they draw their bow or steady their firearm, the breeze sharpens their focus, and every shot becomes an inevitability. With a boundless horizon as their ally and a bird of prey as their partner, they move through the world with unparalleled grace, striking from angles others cannot comprehend.
Walls cannot confine them, and no foe is safe from their relentless pursuit. Their arrows rebound through corridors, their shots weave around cover, and their companion watches from the skies, ever-ready to swoop in with razor-sharp talons. When the gale rises, enemies know they face not just a hunter, but the storm itself.
Windmarked Warrior
3rd level Gale Sharpshooter feature
Windborne Movement: The wind lifts your steps, granting you unmatched speed and grace. You gain an additional 10 feet of walking speed and move effortlessly through nonmagical difficult terrain, as though carried by a gentle breeze.
Windborne Rebound
3rd level Gale Sharpshooter feature
You can manipulate your projectiles to rebound off surfaces and strike hidden foes.
- Rebound Attack: When you make a ranged weapon attack with your weapon, you can target a point or surface within your weapon’s range. The projectile ricochets toward a creature within 30 feet of that point. Make an attack roll against the creature, ignoring half and three-quarters cover.
- Bypass Line of Sight: You can target enemies not directly in your line of sight by describing the rebound path. The DM adjudicates whether the ricochet is feasible.
- Uses: You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses after a long rest.
Gale Companion
3rd level Gale Sharpshooter feature
A loyal bird companion soars at your side, bound to you by the spirit of the wind. It acts as your eyes in the sky and your ally in battle, delivering support with unerring grace.
- Companion Stats: Your bird uses the Hawk stat block with the following enhancements:
- Hit points equal to five times your ranger level.
- It shares your initiative but takes its turn immediately after yours.
- The bird can hover and has a flying speed of 60 feet.
- Wind’s Aid: As a bonus action, your bird can create a gust of wind to assist an ally within 30 feet, granting them advantage on their next attack roll or increasing their movement speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
- Gust Strike: Your bird can make an attack as a bonus action, dealing 1d6 slashing damage.
If the bird companion dies, you can summon it back with an hour of effort during a long rest.
Eyes of the Tempest
7th level Gale Sharpshooter feature
- Wind-Enhanced Perception: You and your bird companion gain advantage on Perception checks relying on sight, hearing, or smell.
- Gale Step: The wind shields your movements. When you take the Dash action, you can move through enemy spaces without provoking opportunity attacks. Additionally, you can move along vertical surfaces during this movement as long as you end your turn on solid ground.
Windborne Rebound Mastery
11th level Gale Sharpshooter feature
Your ability to ricochet projectiles becomes unmatched.
- Enhanced Windborne Rebound: Your ricocheted shots can now target up to two surfaces for more intricate rebounds. You can also redirect your shot to strike up to two creatures within 30 feet of the final rebound point, rolling separately for each.
- Retry Missed Shots: If your attack misses a target, you can redirect the projectile to try hitting the same target or a different target within 30 feet of the initial miss.
Whispering Tempest
11th level Gale Sharpshooter feature
The wind amplifies your awareness and strikes, allowing you to control the battlefield.
- Windborne Strike: When you hit an enemy with a ranged attack, the wind lashes out to strike another nearby foe. A second creature within 30 feet of the original target takes damage equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1).
- Wind’s Warning: You are always aware of the battlefield. You cannot be surprised, and you gain a +2 bonus to initiative rolls.
Tempest’s Wrath
15th level Gale Sharpshooter feature
Your connection to the wind allows you to exploit openings in an enemy’s defenses with deadly accuracy.
Pinpoint Vulnerability: When you hit a creature with a ranged weapon attack, you can impose one of the following effects:
- Expose a Weakness: The next attack roll made against the target before the start of your next turn has advantage.
- Unsteady Footing: The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier) or be knocked prone.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses after a long rest.
