Base Class: Warlock
This subclass is a 2024 revision of the Hexblade Warlock since the pact of the blade has changed in the 2024 PHB.
Gain the Powers of the Cursed Shadowfell
You have made your pact with a mysterious entity from the Shadowfell, a creature that grants you the ability to curse.
Level 3: Hexer Spells
The magic of your patron ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Warlock level specified in the Hexer Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.
| Warlock Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3 | Blindness/Deafness, Hex, Hold Person, Hunter's Mark |
| 5 | Bestow Curse, Slow |
| 7 | Blight, Phantasmal Killer |
| 9 | Dominate Person, Hold Monster |
Level 3: Cursing Spells
A creature that is targeted by a spell from the Hexer Spells table that has a duration longer than instantaneous is considered cursed by that spell.
Level 3: Hexer's Curse
Your abilities from your connection to your patron, allows you to use the power of the Shadowfell to curse your enemies. As a bonus action on your turn, choose one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. The target is cursed for 1 minute and it ends early if the creature dies, you lose concentration (as if concentrating for a spell), or you die. The cursed target suffers from the following effects:
- Whenever the cursed target takes damage, it takes additional necrotic damage. The additional damage is equal to your proficiency bonus.
- Any attack roll made against the cursed target is a critical hit on a roll 19 or 20 on the d20.
- When the cursed target dies, the creature that killed it gains temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1)
You can’t use this feature again until you finish a long rest or expand a Pact Magic spell slot.
Level 6: Necrotic Resistance
Your connection to the Shaowfell strengthens, granting you resistance to necrotic damage as long as one creature within 30 feet of you is cursed by your Hexer’s Curse feature or a spell you have cast.
Level 10: Improved Curses
Whenever you curse a creature using your Hexer’s Curse feature or a spell that curses a target, you can make it that Hexer’s Curse or the spell doesn’t require concentration. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
Level 14: Master of Curses
You always have resistance to necrotic damage and gain immunity to necrotic damage as long as one creature within 30 feet of you is cursed by your Hexer’s Curse feature or a spell you have cast.
You can also spread your Hexer’s Curse to other creatures. When the creature cursed by your Hexer's Curse dies, you can apply the curse to a different creature you can see within 30 feet of you, provided you aren't incapacitated. When you apply the curse in this way, the killer of the cursed target doesn’t gain temporary hit points from the death of the previously cursed creature.
