Base Class: Ranger
The Fire Dragoons are bold and reckless wanderers, ever seeking the next battle or blazing trail. Known for their signature crimson gaze, these warriors are forged by fire and freedom, mastering versatile weapons through relentless training in untamed wilds and forgotten roads.
Their fighting style is aggressive and adaptive—striking with precision, leaping into danger without hesitation, and wielding fire as both symbol and weapon. Though they possess only minor elemental magic, they use it with deadly efficiency, igniting their weapons and unleashing fiery blasts in the heat of combat.
Fire Dragoons are more than warriors—they are self-made legends. They oppose tyrants, challenge monsters, and stand as champions of defiance and grit.
Draconic Leap
📏 Enhanced Jump
You gain resistance to falling damage.
In addition, when you make a High Jump or Long Jump without a running start, calculate your jump distance as follows:
-
Standing Jump Distance (in feet) = your Acrobatics modifier + Strength modifier, rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5.
Example: Acrobatics +7 and Strength +4 = total 11 → jump distance = 10 feet.
Note: Your maximum jump height is still limited by environmental constraints such as ceilings, magical barriers, or confined spaces. The DM may reduce your jump height or redirect your leap based on available room.
🌀 Aerial Strike (Jump Attack)
Once per turn, you may use your Action to initiate a Draconic Leap:
-
You leap vertically up to your full jump height.
-
You remain airborne until the start of your next turn.
-
While airborne, you are considered out of melee range of most creatures (unless they can fly or have reach).
-
You may still be targeted by ranged attacks and spells.
At the start of your next turn, you descend rapidly toward the battlefield:
-
Choose a landing space within 5 feet of horizontal drift per 10 feet fallen.
(Ex: If you fell 50 feet, you can land up to 25 feet away horizontally.) -
This movement does not consume movement or action.
Then, as part of this ability, you make one melee weapon attack with the following properties:
-
The attack is made with advantage.
-
On a hit, it deals extra weapon damage based on your Dragoon subclass level:
| Dragoon Levels | Extra Damage |
|---|---|
| 1st–4th | +1d6 |
| 5th–8th | +2d6 |
| 9th–12th | +3d6 |
| 13th–16th | +4d6 |
| 17th–20th | +5d6 |
🔼 Dragoon Level Scaling
If you have levels in multiple subclasses or classes with the “Dragoon” tag, your jump distance improves:
-
At 10 combined Dragoon levels: Multiply your jump distance by 5.
-
At 20 combined Dragoon levels: Multiply your jump distance by 10.
Burning Rush
3rd-level Fire Dragoon feature
You gain a touch of divine or primal magic and the ability to channel fire through your weapons.
-
You gain the Magic Initiate feat (using Wisdom as your spellcasting ability), choosing either Druid or Cleric.
-
You learn the Ember Shot and Flame Lash cantrips, plus one 1st-level spell from the selected class.
-
When wielding a Versatile weapon with two hands, you may use your Wisdom modifier in addition to Strength for attack rolls.
-
When casting Flame Lash on a Versatile weapon used in one hand, you can use your bonus action to make one additional melee attack with that weapon (also using one hand).
Draconic Form
7th-level Fire Dragoon feature
As a bonus action, you unleash your inner fire, transforming into a draconic form for 1 minute or until incapacitated. You may use this feature once per short or long rest.
🛡️ Draconic Armor
You gain a +1 bonus to all saving throws. Your base Armor Class becomes:
| Armor Type | Draconic Armor AC |
| Unarmored | 13 + Dexterity modifier |
| Light Armor | 15 + Dexterity modifier |
| Medium Armor | 18 + Dexterity modifier (max +2) |
| Heavy Armor | 21 |
You must be proficient in and wearing the armor type to benefit from its AC. Otherwise, use Unarmored.
🧄 Short Flight
You gain a fly speed equal to your walking speed. You cannot hover. If you end your turn midair without a surface, you fall.
Blazing Dynamo
11th-level Fire Dragoon feature
Your mastery of flame and form empowers your strikes with searing precision.
-
When you take the Attack action, you may replace one attack with Ember Shot. This ignores disadvantage from being within 5 feet of enemies.
-
While in Dragoon Form, you may replace any number of attacks granted by the Attack action with Ember Shot.
-
When you hit with an Aerial Strike using a Versatile weapon, you may use a bonus action to apply Flame Lash effects to that strike.
-
While in Dragoon Form, this effect applies to all Versatile weapon attacks made that turn after using your bonus action.
Draconic Spirit
15th-level Fire Dragoon feature
🐉 Spectral Mount (1/Short Rest)
As an action, summon a glowing, elemental dragon in an unoccupied space within 30 feet:
-

-
Shares your initiative
The dragon fades over 1 minute when the duration ends or if reduced to 0 HP.
🐲 Empowered Form (1/Long Rest)
If you summon the mount during Dragoon Form or activate Dragoon Form while it is summoned, you may empower it:
-
It gains the stat block of a dragon whose CR is the highest available below your level.
-
It uses your HP, AC, saves, and resistances if higher.
-
It rolls its own initiative and obeys verbal commands.
-
After Dragoon Form ends, it reverts to spectral or vanishes if the hour has expired.
📌 Only one spectral or empowered dragon may exist at a time.
