Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Your patron is a dragon of such immeasurable years and power that they have become a force of nature in and of themselves. Whether they seek pawns to expand the borders of their territory, lackeys to help them acquire wealth for their hoards, ambassadors to forge alliances and establish themselves as recognized rulers, or any other inscrutable machinations they may have, a powerful draconic entity has deemed you worthy of wielding a modicum of their power in their name. These entities not only include the oldest mortal dragons of the Material Plane, but could also include dragons of a deific caliber such as Bahamut, Tiamat, or Io.

Bonus Proficiency

When you take this subclass, you can read, write, and speak Draconic.

Breath of the Wyrm

Additionally, starting at 1st level, you can borrow your patron's breath weapon. You have a pool of d6s that you spend to exhale the breath weapon. The number of dice in the pool equals 1 + warlock level.

As a bonus action, you can exhale this breath weapon in an area, spending dice from the pool to do so. The maximum number of dice you can spend at once equals your proficiency bonus + 1. Roll the dice you spend, add them together, and deal that much damage to each creature in the area. The area and the type of damage are determined by your dragon's entry on the Dragon Kind table.

Your pool regains all expended dice when you finish a long rest. At 6th level, the area of cone weapons increase by 5 feet and the length of line weapons increase by 10 feet. They increase again this way at 10th and 14th levels.

Scaled Hide

Starting at 6th level, your connection to your patron has formed a natural hide of scaled armor on your skin. The scales match the color and properties of your patron. You now gain resistance to the type of damage from your breath weapon and your armor class when not wearing armor is now 13 + your Dexterity modifier. Additionally, your scales form a protective layer of health. As an action, you gain temporary hit points equal your Charisma modifier + half your warlock level (rounded down).
Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Short Rest or Long Rest. You can also restore your use of it by expending a spell slot of level 2 or higher (no action required).

Frightening Guard

Starting at 10th level, your patron grants you the ability to strike fear into your foes. You are now immune to being frightened, and when you are hit with an attack, you can use your reaction to attempt to frighten your attacker. The creature must make a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC or be frightened by you for 1 minute. If the creature ends its turn in a location where it doesn't have line of sight to you, the creature can make a Wisdom saving throw. On a successful save, the spell ends for that creature.

You can't use this ability again until you finish a short or long rest. You can also restore use of it by expanding a spell slot (no action required)

Aspect of the Greatwyrm

At 14th level, you gain these additional benefits as your dragon patrons residual magic begins to effect your physical form.

  • You gain a flying speed of 60 feet, as spiritual draconic wings sprout form your back.
  • You become resistant to acid, cold, fire, lightning, and poison damage.
  • If you fail a saving throw, you can choose to succeed instead. You can only use this feature once per long rest.
