Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow the Way of the Pugilist decide to hone their monk skills not in the ways of mindfulness or tranquility, but more of how best to pummel their enemies into the dirt with their own two (or more) fists. These fighters can often be found putting their talent of fisticuffs towards things like entertainment for commoners, often in the form of a professional sport - engaging in unarmed bouts against a similar fighter within a roped arena. Many other monk traditions look down on those who follow this path; some don’t even consider them to be monks at all, but rather boastful brutes who use their training for financial gain. Pugilist Monks don’t seem to mind either way - they’ve chosen this path and don’t care what others think. Wherever your feelings of these monks may lie, one thing is certain: don’t underestimate those who follow this path of combat, for while their martial art may lack finesse and grace, they more than make up for it in skill, brutality, and resilience.

Swarmers are fighters who are aggressive and swing their fists like a volley of arrows. They keep their opponents close and keep on punching nonstop until either they, or their enemies, fall to the ground. Swarmers are incredibly persistent fighters, ready to get in your face at a moment's notice.

Boxer Style

Starting when you pick this subclass at level 3, you choose a Boxer Style which will determine the features you gain as you level up. There are 3 different Boxer Styles.

Swarmer:

Swarmers are fighters who are aggressive and swing their fists like a volley of arrows. They keep their opponents close and keep on punching nonstop until either they, or their enemies, fall to the ground. Minor Circuit - Volley of Blows

Starting when you choose this tradition, and Boxer Style, at 3rd level, you have become more relentless when unleashing your fists. Whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you may make 3 unarmed strikes as a bonus action instead of 2.

Minor Circuit - Surge of Energy

Starting when you choose this tradition, and Boxer Style, at 3rd level, you have learned how to reserve more energy within yourself when you need it. You may choose to use the Flurry of Blows feature without spending a Ki point. You may use this feature a number of times equal to 1 + your Dexterity modifier, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Major Circuit - Dedicated Target

Starting at 6th level, you have learned how to hone in on a particular enemy, focusing your mental energy on taking them down. As a bonus action, you may choose to mark a creature you can see within 30 ft as your target. While a creature is marked, your unarmed strikes do an extra 1d4 bludgeoning damage to the marked creature. You also have advantage against Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track the creature, should they hide from you or turn invisible. You may only have one creature marked at any given time, and if your target drops to 0 hit points, you may transfer your mark onto another creature (no action required).

Major Circuit - Aggressive Resolve

Starting at 6th level, you are ready to throw down at a moment's notice. You have advantage on initiative rolls, and if you hit a hostile creature with an unarmed strike before the target’s first turn, your unarmed strikes do maximum damage.

World Circuit - Torrent of Blows

Starting at 11th level, your fists have become unyielding in their devastation. Whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature, you instead may make 4 unarmed strikes as a bonus action instead of 3. You may also spend additional Ki points whenever you use your Flurry of Blows feature to make additional unarmed strikes per Ki points spent, up to a maximum equal to your Dexterity modifier.

Champion - Blitzing Overdrive

Starting at 17th level, you can unleash an unstoppable hailstorm of bludgeoning fists. When you use your Flurry of Blows feature on your turn, you can choose to double the amount of unarmed strikes you make on your turn as a bonus action. This feature does not apply to any additional unarmed strikes you make by spending Ki points using your Torrent of Blows feature. Additionally, any unarmed strike you make deals maximum possible damage when you use this feature. Once you use this feature, you can’t use this feature until you finish a long rest.
