Base Class: Rogue
Not all rogues rely on finesse and cunning to achieve their goals. Some learn to intimidate and overpower, using muscle and menace to get their way. The Thug is a rogue who thrives on brute strength, blending their roguish talents with the tactics of a street brawler or enforcer.
Unlike their more delicate counterparts, Thugs excel at breaking down doors, grappling foes, and intimidating those who stand in their way. They turn the tools of the rogue—dirty tricks and an uncanny ability to read their enemies—into weapons of raw dominance. Whether they're a merciless enforcer collecting debts or a bold adventurer who prefers to punch first and sneak later, the Thug is a rogue who fights on their own terms.
Thugs can excel both in combat and social encounters, leveraging their imposing nature to cow enemies into submission or compel reluctant allies to cooperate. Their abilities allow them to use brute force and battlefield control to secure an advantage, proving that there’s more than one way to be a rogue.
Public Menace
You gain proficiency in Intimidation and Deception.
Brute Force
Once per Short Rest, you may add your strength modifier (minimum of +1) to a Dexterity check. You also gain a permanent +2 Strength bonus.
Unstoppable Force
At 9th level, you become an unstoppable juggernaut, capable of shrugging off attacks and knocking opponents aside with your raw power.
-
Resilient Toughness: You gain resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical attacks. Your body has become hardened through constant combat and brute force.
-
Knockdown: Once per short rest, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can choose to knock it prone. The creature must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier) or be knocked prone. You can use this feature on creatures that are one size larger than you or smaller.
Boxer
When you are hit with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage taken by an amount equal to your Strength modifier (minimum of +1). Additionally, when you take damage that would reduce you to 0 hit points, you can choose to drop to 1 hit point instead. Both of these are once per long rest.
Heavy Hit
As a reaction, you can use an unarmed attack to push a creature 10 ft away.
