Druid
Base Class: Druid

The dark cousins of the Circle of the Moon, druids of the Circle of the Eclipse follow the grim path of studying and understanding monstrosities. Druids of this circle gather in places where monstrosities and other twisted creatures run rampant, learning these monsters' behavior, origin, and place in the natural order. As a member of this circle, you possess an ungovernable curiosity for the study of monstrosities, and as such, you have learned how to shape-shift into one.

Level 3: Grim Transformation

The rites of your circle grant you the ability to transform into stranger, more unnatural forms, granting you the benefits below when assuming a Wild Shape form.

Monstrous Form. You lose the ability to Wild Shape into a Beast form. In exchange, you can use your Wild Shape to shape-shift into a Monstrosity. In order to transform into a monstrosity, you must have previously completed the Grim Ritual associated with the monstrosity you wish to shape-shift into.

Challenge Rating. The maximum Challenge Rating for the form equals your Druid level divided by 3 (round down).

Armor Class. Until you leave the form, your AC equals 13 plus your Wisdom modifier if that total is higher than the Monstrosity's AC.

Temporary Hit Points. You gain a number of Temporary Hit Points equal to three times your Druid level.

Grim Ritual. In order to perform a Grim Ritual, you must study the deceased remains of a monstrosity for one hour, which can be part of a short rest. You thereafter learn that monstrosity's abilities and add it to your Known Forms for Wildshape. Groves of the Circle of the Eclipse typically preserve monstrosities for communal study, which your character may have been in contact with at some point in the past, granting you forms to start out with (to check with your DM).

The ritual can be carried out so long as some recognizable part of the creature's body is left behind, which can be as little as bones or fossils. If the creature you perform the ritual on isn't a monstrosity, you learn nothing. Additionally, If the monstrosity is of a CR too high for you to Wild Shape into at the time of the ritual, you still learn its abilities and add it to your Known Forms for Wildshape.

Level 3: Circle of the Eclipse Spells

When you reach a Druid level specified in the Circle of the Eclipse Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

In addition, you can cast the spells from this feature while you’re in a Wild Shape form.

Refined Instincts. If your form has any ability that forces a saving throw, the DC is replaced with your spell save DC if the total is greater than the monstrosity's innate save DC.

Level 10: Horrid Form
