Base Class: Barbarian
When you choose this path, your rage may be accompanied by non-functional additional visual effects, e.g an ethereal armor, tatoos shining with otherwordly colors, etc. Work with your Dungeon Master to establish, how you'd envision your rage and what additional effects you'd like to add when progressing with this subclass.
The Path of the Legendary Hero is defined by a deep yearning for greatness. Whether driven by noble ideals or darker, self-serving motives, those who follow this path are consumed by the desire to carve their name into history. While their motivations may vary, all must adhere to a code, one that guides their actions and shapes the very nature of their legendary status.
Level 3: A Hero Shan't Falter
Starting at 3rd level, you learn to overcome fear. When you activate your rage, you are immune to the frightened condition, Fear spell and other effects that mean to terrify you. If you are subjected to these effects when you enter your rage, they are supressed for the duration of the rage.
Level 3: A Hero Shall be Stalwart
Starting at 3rd level you learn a hero is a paragon to those around them and shouldn't tumble around. While you are raging and are subjected to forced movement, grapple or the prone condition, you can perform a DC 20 Strength (Athletics) check. On a success, you are immune to the forced movement, prone condition or grappled condition, whichever triggered this feature, until your rage ends.
Level 6: A Hero Shall Protect
Starting at 6th level, your heroic aura manifests in need. When you are raging and there is at least one living ally within 15ft of you, all allied creatures within 15ft of you, including yourself, gain half cover.
Level 10: A Hero Shall Save
Starting at 10th level, you can easily perform the mind-boggling deed of appearing from nowhere to save others at the last moment. When another creature within 30ft of you is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to instantly disappear and reappear in an unoccupied space within 5ft of that creature. If you're raging, as long as the target stays within 5ft of you, until the start of you next turn all attacks against the target are redirected to you and you gain resistance to all damage from these attacks. If you're not raging, you can enter rage as part of this reaction. If the chosen space can't support you, you can hover in place until the end of that turn.
You can use this feature a number of times up to half of your level in this class (rounded up) and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Level 14: Legendary
You have firmly established yourself as a hero and now you're taking the first step to become a legend.
Upon reaching level 14 you gain one Legendary Characteristic of your choice. You gain an additional one at 15th, 17th and 19th level.
Legendary Characteristics
- Your sheer hunger for performing unparalleled deeds keeps you sustained. You no longer need food or water and you don't need to sleep to gain the benefits of a long rest.
- You've mastered the basics of being a hero. You become immune to the effects listed in A Hero Shan't Falter and A Hero Shall be Stalwart at all times.
- Your heroic aura grows with your fame. The range of A Hero Shall Protect increases to 30 ft and you no longer need allies within range to benefit from this feature.
- Your power to save others knows no bounds. A Hero Shall Save ignores the effects that hamper teleportation, such as the Hallow, Forbiddance or Forcecage spells. Also, if you're not dead or polymorphed, you can use this feature even when affected by conditions that normally don't allow the use of a reaction. Otherwise, these spells and conditions still affect you normally and don't end on you as a result.
