The Creationist is an Artificer who has unlocked the secrets of alchemical transmutation, blending historical alchemy with arcane techniques to manifest extraordinary creations. While other Artificers focus on tinkering with mechanisms or crafting potions, Creationists channel their ingenuity into reshaping the very fabric of reality. Whether forging tools from thin air, transmuting the battlefield to their advantage, or creating extradimensional spaces for their supplies, Creationists embody the limitless potential of creation.

Level 3: Alchemical Transmutation

 

  • Instant Creation:
    Using an action and raw components worth a gold value equal to the item’s cost, you can transmute materials into simple tools, adventuring gear, or mundane objects (e.g., a 10-foot pole, a crowbar, or a shield). The item remains for 1 hour unless you maintain concentration, at which point it persists indefinitely.

  • Transmutation Circles:
    You learn to inscribe magical transmutation circles. Preparing a circle takes 1 minute and consumes chalk, ink, or another marking material. When using a circle, your material costs for Instant Creation are halved. A transmutation circle is consumed when used. You can maintain a number of prepared circles equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1).

 

Instant Creation

Starting at 3rd level, you gain the ability to transmute raw materials into useful tools and objects with remarkable speed, embodying the essence of your craft.

  • Creation Process: As an action, you can expend raw materials worth a gold value equal to the item's cost to create a mundane, non-magical object. The object can be any tool, adventuring gear, or simple item that can fit within a 10-foot cube (e.g., a ladder, a grappling hook, or a shield). The object is fully functional and visually identical to a normally crafted version.

  • Duration: The created object lasts for 1 hour or until you choose to dismiss it (no action required). If you maintain concentration on the object as if concentrating on a spell, it becomes permanent after 10 minutes.

  • Material Efficiency: When creating objects within a prepared Transmutation Circle (see subclass feature), the material cost is halved.

Your Instant Creation feature makes you a master of resourceful ingenuity, capable of conjuring practical solutions to complex problems in mere moments.

Transmutation Circles

At 3rd level, you learn to inscribe Transmutation Circles, magical sigils that serve as conduits for your alchemical craft. These circles enhance your ability to transmute materials, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

  • Creating a Circle:
    You can inscribe a Transmutation Circle on a solid surface using chalk, ink, or similar marking materials. Creating a circle requires 1 minute of uninterrupted focus. Once inscribed, the circle remains intact until it is used, erased, or damaged.

  • Efficiency Boost:
    While within 10 feet of a prepared Transmutation Circle, your Instant Creation and other transmutation abilities require half the normal material cost to activate.

  • Circle Limit:
    You can maintain a number of prepared Transmutation Circles equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). Inscribing a new circle beyond this limit causes the oldest circle to fade.

  • Empowered Focus:
    Transmutation Circles radiate faint magical energy detectable by Detect Magic. You can channel spells or abilities through the circle, treating the circle’s location as the origin point for any effect.

By mastering Transmutation Circles, you amplify your efficiency and versatility, transforming the battlefield into a canvas for your alchemical artistry.

Level 3: Level 3: Dimensional Storage (Basic)

  • At 3rd level, your understanding of transmutation allows you to create a pocket of extradimensional space tethered to your tools. This Dimensional Storage can hold up to 10 cubic feet of non-living material, such as gear, tools, or raw materials. The storage space is weightless, allowing you to carry it effortlessly.

    • Accessing the Storage: As a bonus action, you can retrieve or store an item from the space.
    • Safety Measures: If the storage is exposed to an antimagic field or similar effects, it becomes inaccessible. However, the contents are safely ejected into the nearest unoccupied space around you.
    • Versatile Utility: You can use the storage to keep spare tools, carry raw materials for your transmutations, or hold bulky items without slowing your movement.

    This feature grows in size and utility as you advance in the Creationist specialization, becoming a cornerstone of your creative capabilities.

Level 5: Reactive Transmutation

  • Quick Alterations:
    As a bonus action, or as a reaction if your Dexterity score is 16 or higher, you can modify a non-magical object within 10 feet. For example:

    • Convert a mundane weapon into a silvered weapon.
    • Modify a set of tools for a specific task.
    • Shape an object into a new form of equal size (e.g., a key into a lockpick).
  • Alchemical Defenses:
    By expending a spell slot, you can reinforce an ally’s equipment for 1 minute:

    • Grant a +1 bonus to AC.
    • Grant resistance to a damage type of your choice.
Alchemical Defenses

  • Protective Aura: As an action, you can expend a spell slot to grant yourself and up to three creatures within 30 feet a shimmering alchemical shield. This shield provides the following benefits for 1 minute:

    • Resistance to one damage type of your choice: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder.
    • A +2 bonus to saving throws against spells and magical effects.
  • Reactive Fortification: If you or an ally under this effect takes damage, you can use your reaction to redirect some of the energy into an alchemical burst. The attacker must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC equal to your spell save DC) or take 2d8 damage of the shielded type.

  • Scaling Power: When using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the resistance effect extends to all creatures within 30 feet, and the reactive burst deals an additional 1d8 damage per spell level above 2nd.

Alchemical Defenses allow you to safeguard your allies while retaliating against threats, embodying the essence of a true alchemical protector.

Quick Alterations

  • Instant Modification: As a bonus action, you can alter the properties of a non-magical object or piece of equipment you can touch. For example, you can:

    • Reinforce a weapon, increasing its damage die by one step (e.g., 1d6 to 1d8) for 1 minute.
    • Strengthen armor, granting a creature wearing it a +1 bonus to AC for 1 minute.
    • Alter the shape or function of an item, such as turning a shield into a sled or a pole into a ladder.
  • Temporary Effects: These modifications last for 1 minute or until you use this ability again. At the end of the duration, the item reverts to its original state.

  • Magical Extension: When used on a magical item, you can temporarily add a cosmetic alteration or minor utility effect, such as glowing runes or a compartment. This change does not affect the item's magical properties and lasts until dismissed.

Quick Alterations allow you to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances, giving you a decisive edge in any situation.

Level 5: Dimensional Storage (Enhanced)

At 5th level, your mastery of extradimensional transmutation improves, greatly expanding the capacity and accessibility of your storage.

  • Expanded Capacity: Your Dimensional Storage can now hold up to 50 cubic feet of non-living material, allowing you to store larger or more numerous items.
  • Quicker Access: You can now retrieve or store items using a bonus action or, if your Dexterity score is 16 or higher, a reaction. This enables rapid adjustments in combat or on the go.
  • Improved Stability: The storage is now reinforced against disruptions. If exposed to an antimagic field or similar effects, it remains tethered to your tools for 1 minute. If the effect persists beyond this time, the contents are ejected safely as before.

The increased capacity and efficiency of your Dimensional Storage make it an indispensable part of your creative arsenal.

Level 9: Magical Transmutation & Essence Extraction

  • Essence Extraction:
    When you deconstruct a non-magical item using your tools, you can recover up to 75% of the materials used to create it, provided they are not consumable components (e.g., food or fuel).

  • Magical Transmutation:
    By expending a spell slot, you can imbue a weapon or armor with magical properties for 1 hour:

    • Weapon Enhancements:

      • Add +1 to attack and damage rolls.
      • Infuse an elemental damage type (fire, cold, lightning, etc.), dealing an additional 1d6 damage of that type.
      • Store a spell of up to 3rd level within the weapon. The next time the weapon strikes a target, the spell is cast as part of the attack.
    • Armor Enhancements:

      • Add +1 to AC.
      • Grant resistance to a specific damage type.
      • Store a defensive spell of up to 3rd level (e.g., Shield of Faith, Absorb Elements). The spell triggers when the wearer is hit or fails a saving throw.

You can imbue one weapon and one armor at a time using this feature.

Essence Extraction

  • Extracting Essence: As an action, you can target a magical creature, object, or ongoing spell effect within 30 feet. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw (for creatures) or a saving throw using the spellcaster's DC (for spells) or have its essence partially extracted. On a failure, the following occurs:

    • Creatures: The target takes 4d10 force damage, and you gain one temporary essence charge, which can be used to fuel your abilities (see below).
    • Objects: A magical object loses one of its charges, or a minor property is suppressed for 1 minute, granting you two temporary essence charges.
    • Spells: The spell effect is disrupted or weakened (e.g., reducing a Wall of Fire's damage by half), granting you two temporary essence charges.
  • Using Essence Charges: You can hold up to three essence charges at a time. You can spend these charges to:

    • Restore a spell slot of 3rd level or lower.
    • Empower your Instant Creation, allowing you to create an item without any material cost.
    • Supercharge a spell or ability, granting it advantage on the attack roll or forcing all targets to make their saving throws at disadvantage.
  • Limits and Risks:
    If you extract essence from the same target more than once within 24 hours, the target automatically succeeds on its saving throw. Using this ability recklessly (e.g., targeting unstable magic) may result in a backlash, determined by the DM.

Essence Extraction turns you into a powerful manipulator of magical energy, allowing you to weaken foes, bolster your abilities, and reshape the flow of battle to your advantage.

Magical Transmutation

  • Advanced Infusion: As an action, you can touch a non-magical weapon, piece of armor, or object and expend a spell slot of 3rd level or higher to imbue it with one of the following effects for 8 hours:

    • Elemental Empowerment: Weapons gain an additional 1d10 damage of a chosen type (acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder). Armor grants immunity to the same damage type for the duration.
    • Spellbound Utility: You can store a spell you know (up to 4th level) within the item. A creature holding the item can cast the spell once using your spell save DC or spell attack bonus.
    • Reactive Enhancement: You imbue armor with a defensive charge. When the wearer takes damage, they can use their reaction to release the charge, dealing 2d8 damage of the stored energy’s type (force, radiant, or necrotic) to the attacker.
  • Material Efficiency: If you activate this ability within a prepared Transmutation Circle, you do not expend the spell slot, but the effect duration is reduced to 1 hour.

Your Magical Transmutation at this level combines utility, offense, and defense, making you a formidable force in any encounter and a master of transformative alchemy.

Level 9: Dimensional Storage (Greater)

At 9th level, your Dimensional Storage reaches a new level of sophistication, rivaling the grand repositories of powerful artificers.

  • Vast Capacity: Your Dimensional Storage now holds up to 200 cubic feet of non-living material, providing you with an extraordinary space for tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Customizable Interior: You can organize the interior of the storage into custom compartments, shelves, or sections to suit your needs. Objects placed in these compartments remain stable, regardless of movement or external conditions.
  • Shared Access: As an action, you can grant an ally within 10 feet of you the ability to access your storage for 1 minute. This allows for quick sharing of resources during tense situations.

With its increased size and versatility, your Dimensional Storage becomes a mobile workshop, supply depot, and tactical advantage, reflecting your unparalleled ingenuity.

Level 15: Limitless Transmutation

  • Material-Free Creation:
    Once per long rest, you can create or modify a non-magical item without requiring raw materials. The item can fit within a 10-foot cube and must not exceed 1,000 gp in value. The item is permanent and functions like a standard crafted item.

  • Permanent Magical Effects:
    When using Magical Transmutation, you can make an enhancement permanent by expending a 4th-level spell slot (or higher). Permanent effects do not count against your limit of one imbued weapon and armor.

 

Material-Free Creation

  • True Creation: When using your Instant Creation feature, you can bypass material requirements entirely. You can create any non-magical object with a value up to 1,000 gold pieces without using any physical components. Objects created this way are permanent unless destroyed or dispelled.
  • Efficient Crafting: If you use a Transmutation Circle while creating an object, the value limit increases to 5,000 gold pieces, and the process requires only half the usual time.
  • Creation Surge: Once per long rest, you can create a single magical item with a rarity of uncommon or lower. The item persists for 24 hours before dissolving into its base components.

Material-Free Creation represents the pinnacle of your craft, enabling you to defy the natural laws of alchemy and summon objects from pure magical energy.

Permanent Magical Effects

  • Permanent Enchantments: When you use your Magical Transmutation feature, you can expend a 5th-level spell slot to make the effect permanent. The object retains its magical property indefinitely, or until you choose to dispel it.
  • Dual Infusion: You can now apply two magical effects to a single object simultaneously. These can include enhancements like elemental damage, spell storage, or defensive abilities, allowing you to tailor the object’s capabilities to your needs.
  • Permanent Modifications: You can now permanently modify an existing magical item by changing its properties or enhancing it further, as long as the result remains within the same rarity (e.g., upgrading a +1 sword to a +2 sword).

Your expertise in Permanent Magical Effects allows you to create powerful, long-lasting magical objects that transcend the limits of ordinary craftsmanship, securing your place as a master of alchemical and arcane transmutation.

Level 15: Dimensional Storage (Exponential)

  • Expanded Vault: The capacity of your Dimensional Storage increases drastically. It now provides a storage space that grows exponentially with your level, allowing you to store an enormous amount of items, regardless of size or weight, with no upper limit.
  • Seamless Access: You can now access or retrieve any item from your Dimensional Storage as a bonus action, or as a reaction if your Dexterity modifier is 16 or higher.
  • Dimensional Manipulation: You can now shift the storage’s contents between dimensions or planes of existence (within a range of 10 miles), allowing you to instantly store or retrieve items from far-off locations. This shift requires 10 minutes of concentration and cannot be disrupted.
  • Perfect Preservation: Items stored in your Dimensional Storage are preserved perfectly, unaffected by the passage of time or external influences, and cannot be tampered with or damaged by magical effects like Dispel Magic or Antimagic Field.

Your Dimensional Storage (Exponential) grants you almost limitless access to stored goods, further enhancing your versatility and ensuring that you’re always prepared for any challenge.
