Base Class: Fighter
By some unfortunate means you have been cursed. Specifically, you’ve been cursed to fight for eternity as a shell of the person you once were. You become an undead warrior, desperately clinging to the hope that you may one day be restored to your former self, or finally be laid to rest.
Level 3: Unholy Revival
You’ve become an undead creature resembling a zombie or a skeleton (you decide). You count as both a humanoid and an undead creature for the purposes of spells and abilities.
You gain Resistance to Poison damage if you don’t already have it, and you have advantage on saving throws against the Poisoned condition. You also gain Darkvision with a range of 60 feet. If you already have Darkvision, you can extend it by 60 feet, to a maximum of 120 feet.
Level 3: Undead Fortitude
Dying was your first mistake that led to this curse. You won’t make that mistake again.
If you take damage that would reduce you to 0 Hit Points, you can make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 plus the damage taken, unless the damage is Radiant or from a Critical Hit. On a successful save, you drop to 1 Hit Point instead. Once you use this feature, you must finish a Long Rest before you can use it again.
Level 3: Unnerving Presence
Your visage strikes fear into the hearts of your adversaries, giving you an edge in battle. You can add your Charisma modifier to your Initiative rolls.
At the start of your turn, you can force any creature within 5 feet that can see you to have the Frightened condition until the end of your next turn. If a creature is immune to the Frightened condition, it instead has disadvantage on all attack rolls until the end of your next turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses after a Short or Long Rest.
Starting at Level 10, the range of this effect extends an additional 5 feet.
Level 7: Unearthly Vigor
By virtue of being undead, you are uncannily resilient towards death. You can use your Action to roll a number of d10’s equal to half your fighter level (rounded down). You gain Temporary Hit Points equal to the number rolled. You must finish a Short or Long Rest before you can use this feature again.
Level 10: Unwanted Calling
Your tenure among the undead has afforded you a breadth of knowledge regarding its nature. In particular, you’ve learned how to share this curse with others.
You can cast Animate Dead at its lowest level without expending a spell slot. You can also cast this spell with any spell slots you have of the appropriate level. Once you use this feature, you must finish a Long Rest before you can use it again.
When you cast the spell using this feature, the target of the spell gains your Unnerving Presence for as long as it is under your control. The target uses your Charisma modifier, proficiency bonus, and fighter level for the purposes of this feature.
Level 15: Undying Valor
Your persistence through suffering and pain inspires others to go beyond their mortal limits. When you use your Unearthly Vigor, you can grant half as many Temporary Hit Points (rounded down) to a number of other creatures within 30 feet of you, equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
Level 18: Unspeakable Horror
You possess a wicked ferocity on the battlefield, which few can hardly stand to witness.
Once per turn, when you make an attack that reduces a creature to 0 Hit Points, you can force any number of creatures within 30 feet that can see you to make a Wisdom saving throw. The DC equals 8 plus the ability modifier used to make the attack, plus your proficiency bonus. You can choose which creatures must make this saving throw.
On a success, the target is Frightened until the end of your next turn. If a creature makes their save and is immune to the Frightened condition, they instead have disadvantage on all attack rolls until the end of your next turn.
On a fail, the target gains the Incapacitated condition for 1 minute. A creature Incapacitated this way can re-roll its saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the condition on a success.
