Base Class: Monk
Manifest Your True Astral Self
Warriors of the Astral Self can use their Focus to manifest their true form—an astral self. In this form, they draw on their spirit rather than their physical body to overcome their greatest challenges.
Level 3: Arms of the Astral Self
At the start of your turn, you can spend 1 Focus Point to manifest the arms of your astral self for 10 minutes. These spectral arms hover within your space and you determine their appearance. They vanish early if you use Sacrifice of the Spirit, are incapacitated, or die. While the spectral arms are present, you gain access to the following benefits:
Spectral Strikes. You can use the arms of your astral self whenever you make an Unarmed Strike. This attack uses your Wisdom modifier for both the attack and damage rolls, deals Force damage, has a reach of 10 feet, and is considered to be made by a Large creature when using the Grapple or Shove option.
Strength of the Spirit. You can use your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength modifier when making Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
Level 3: Sacrifice of the Spirit
As a Bonus Action, you can sacrifice one or more manifested aspects of your astral self, causing them to vanish in a burst of astral energy in a 10-foot Emanation centered on you. For the first aspect you sacrifice (arms, visage, or body), roll your Martial Arts die twice, and once for each additional aspect you wish to sacrifice. Creatures of your choice within the emanation must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, they take Force damage equal to the total of your rolls. On a successful save, they take half as much damage.
Level 6: Visage of the Astral Self
At the start of your turn or when you manifest the arms of your astral self, you can spend 1 Focus Point to manifest the visage of your astral self for 10 minutes. This spectral visage hovers within your space, you determine its appearance, and it vanishes early if you use Sacrifice of the Spirit, are incapacitated or die. While the visage is present, you gain the following benefits:
Astral Sight. You can see normally in darkness, both magical and nonmagical, to a distance of 120 feet.
Astral Speech. When you speak, you can direct your words to a creature of your choice that you can see within 60 feet of you, making it so only that creature can hear you. Alternatively, you can amplify your voice so that all creatures within 600 feet can hear you.
Wisdom of the Spirit. You have advantage on Wisdom (Insight and Perception) checks.
Level 11: Body of the Astral Self
At the start of your turn or when you manifest the arms or visage of your astral self, you can spend 1 Focus Point to manifest the body of your astral self for 10 minutes. This spectral body hovers within your space and connects to your astral arms and visage when they are manifested. You determine its appearance, and it vanishes early if you use Sacrifice of the Spirit, are incapacitated or die. While the body is present, you gain the following benefits:
Soul Survivor. When you would drop to 0 Hit Points, you can use Sacrifice of the Spirit as a Reaction, sacrificing all manifested aspects of your astral self. Doing so reduces you to 1 Hit Point instead. You must then complete a Short or Long Rest before you can use this feature again.
Courage of the Spirit. You cannot be Frightened.
Level 17: Awakened Astral Self
While your astral self’s arms, visage, and body are manifested, you can spend 2 Focus Points as a Bonus Action to awaken your astral self for 10 minutes. This resets the duration of each manifested aspect to 10 minutes. The awakening ends if any aspect of your astral self vanishes. While awakened, you gain the following benefits:
Awakened Arms. When you use the Extra Attack feature to attack twice, you can instead attack three times if all the attacks are made with your Spectral Strikes.
Awakened Body. You gain +2 to your Armor Class.
Awakened Visage. You understand all spoken languages, and any creature that can understand a language can understand what you say.
Persistence of the Spirit. When you use Sacrifice of the Spirit, you can spend 2 Focus Points to prevent any aspects of your astral self from vanishing.
