Base Class: Monk
The fighting style of the Path of the Guiding Stars is a mesmerizing blend of dance and combat, where every movement is both an attack and an art form. Monks of this tradition move with the elegance and precision of celestial bodies, their strikes and steps leaving trails of shimmering starlight. Their forms are inspired by the constellations they revere, each stance and motion echoing the stories and shapes of the stars in the night sky.
- Graceful Flow: The monks' movements are smooth and flowing, much like the dance of planets and stars across the heavens. Each step seems to glide over the ground, and their transitions between stances are seamless, creating a continuous display of elegance and power.
- Shimmering Trails: When fighting, monks of the Path of the Guiding Stars leave behind faint trails of light, reminiscent of shooting stars. These trails linger for a moment before fading, adding a mystical and otherworldly quality to their combat style.
- Celestial Poses: The monks often adopt poses and stances that mirror the shapes of constellations. For example, they might extend their arms in a pose reminiscent of the Archer constellation or adopt a defensive stance that echoes the protective form of the Bear.
- Radiant Strikes: When attacking, their unarmed strikes flare with radiant energy, illuminating the battlefield with bursts of starlight. These strikes are not only powerful but also visually stunning, creating a dazzling display of light and motion.
- Ethereal Grace: Their leaps and acrobatic maneuvers are reminiscent of celestial bodies in motion, appearing almost weightless and defying gravity. When they jump or perform aerial attacks, it looks as if they are floating or dancing among the stars.
Celestial Strike
At level 3, when you make an unarmed strike, you can spend 1 ki point to deal an additional 1d6 radiant damage and illuminate the target, causing it to shed bright light in a 10-foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet until the start of your next turn.
Starlit Ward
At level 3, your connection to the celestial bodies grants you a protective aura. Once per long rest, you can create a starlit ward with a total number of hit points equal to twice your monk level + your Wisdom modifier that lasts until you finish a long rest. Whenever you take damage, the ward takes the damage instead. If the ward is reduced to 0 hit points, you take any remaining damage. When the ward is reduced to 0 hit points, you can regain its hit points by spending 1 ki point per 5 hit points.
Celestial Navigation
At level 3, you gain advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks and can navigate by starlight even on cloudy nights. When you meditate under the night sky, you regain an additional ki point during a short rest.
Guidance
At level 3, you learn the Guidance cantrip. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for it.
Constellations
At level 6, as a bonus action, you can spend 2 ki points to adopt a constellation form for 1 minute, gaining one of the following benefits:
- The Archer: Your ranged weapon attacks have advantage and deal an additional 1d6 radiant damage.
- The Bear: Gain resistance to all damage and advantage on saving throws against spells.
- The Dragon: As an action, you can exhale radiant energy in a 15-foot cone, dealing 4d6 radiant damage (Dexterity save for half, DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier).
The Archer
Your ranged weapon attacks have advantage and deal an additional 1d6 radiant damage.
The Bear
Gain resistance to all damage and advantage on saving throws against spells.
The Dragon
As an action, you can exhale radiant energy in a 15-foot cone, dealing 4d6 radiant damage (Dexterity save for half, DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier).
The Guardian
At level 11 as an action, you can spend 3 ki points to create a protective ward around you and your allies within 30 feet for 1 minute. Each affected creature gains temporary hit points equal to your monk level + your Wisdom modifier. The ward glows with the soft, protective light of the stars.
The Seven Sisters
At level 17, as an action, you can spend 4 ki points to call down a shower of meteors on a point you can see within 60 feet. Each creature in a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Wisdom modifier). A creature takes 6d6 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The meteors descend with a majestic, shimmering beauty, like a celestial performance.
Constellation Mastery
At level 17, as an action, you can spend 5 ki points to transform into a celestial avatar for 10 minutes. During this time, you gain the benefits of all three forms from Constellation Form simultaneously, and your unarmed strikes deal an additional 1d10 radiant damage. Your form shines with the radiance of the stars, inspiring awe and reverence in all who see you.
