Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

The Investigator is a rogue who wields their intellect as a weapon sharper than any blade. Where others rely on brute strength or instinct, you see patterns, weaknesses, and truths that are invisible to most. With an uncanny ability to analyze situations and deduce critical information, you remain one step ahead of your foes, unraveling their plans and exploiting their flaws.

Investigators are detectives, tacticians, and strategists. Whether you’re unraveling a conspiracy, hunting a dangerous fugitive, or dismantling an enemy’s defenses in combat, your quick thinking and precise calculations make you a formidable force. You excel at reading people, solving mysteries, and executing plans with lethal efficiency.

When others fail to see a way forward, you see the solution—and it’s often accompanied by the sharp end of a blade.

Analytical Genius

Your mind processes information with uncanny precision. You gain the following benefits:

Deductive Insight: As a bonus action, you can analyze a creature within 30 feet. You learn one of the following pieces of information (your choice):

  • Its highest saving throw.
  • Its current hit points or armor class.
  • Whether it is immune, resistant, or vulnerable to a specific damage type.

Keen Observer: You gain proficiency in the Insight and Investigation skills. If you're already proficient, your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with them.

Quick Thinking

Your mind races, and your quick reflexes make you deadly in combat.

  • When you roll for initiative, you gain the ability to make a single weapon attack against a creature of your choice before combat fully begins, using your reaction. If you successfully hit, this attack deals extra damage equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1).
  • Tactical Advantage: After making this attack, you can use a bonus action to move up to 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.

Forensic Mind

You see through deception and hidden details with ease.

  • You gain advantage on Insight checks to discern lies and Investigation checks to uncover clues.
  • Whenever you use your Insight skill to contest a Deception check, you can add your Intelligence modifier to the roll.

Additionally, your sharp observations grant you combat advantages:

  • When you use Deductive Insight on a creature, your next attack against it before the end of your next turn has advantage.

Flawless Deduction

Your analytical prowess allows you to piece together complex scenarios instantly.

  • When you make an Intelligence (Investigation) check or Wisdom (Insight) check, you can treat a roll of 9 or lower as a 10.
  • As a reaction, you can use Deductive Insight to predict an enemy's move. When a creature makes an attack roll, you can impose disadvantage on the attack if it is within 30 feet of you.

You can use this reaction a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). You regain all uses after a long rest.

Perfect Prediction

You reach the pinnacle of your deductive abilities, becoming a near-omniscient force in the field.

  • Anticipate Movement: As a bonus action, choose a creature you can see. For the next minute, you have advantage on attack rolls against it, and it has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
  • Master Tactician: At the start of combat, you can use Deductive Insight on up to three creatures without using an action.

Additionally, you can cast true seeing on yourself once per long rest without using a spell slot.
