Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Editor's Note: Unfortunately this subclass does not function properly in play due to its unincorporated spell list- There are spells listed that I do not own the licensing for and therefore cannot publish unless I nix them, this is a shareable copy for the purposes of getting feedback on the subclass. I am very sorry :(

Tenets of the Bag

The tenets of the Oath of the Bag have been preserved by countless brotherhoods of its paladins, the oath emphasizes philanthropy, iron will, and desire through the following principles.

The Chase. Relentlessly overcome your hardships, and you will be rewarded with good fortune that you may use for yourself and for others.

The Flow. Coin must circulate, and those who hoard block dam the river. Thwart those who bring despair unto others through their wallets and leave those who have lost themselves to greed with nothing, for they do not deserve what they have.

The Risk. To lose it all, to melt your coin for the sake of a greater purpose makes what still remains that much more valuable, that value and sacrifice is the catalyst of your power.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Conquest Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Gilded Smite. You can use your Channel Divinity to empower your smite spells and Divine Smite with some of your gold. When you roll damage for a smite, you can imbue it with a golden wave of energy drawn from your coins, increasing the damage dice size by one category (up to d12s) for every 10gp (or collective coin value equal to 10gp) you expend during the use of this feature. (ex. a 1st level divine smite that is Gilded twice will cost 20gp and deal 2d12 radiant damage instead of 2d8 radiant damage.)

Divine Discount. You can use your Channel Divinity to transmute gold pieces into spellcasting components at a reduced price. As an action, you release divine power from inside coins that you crush. For 10 minutes, whenever you cast a spell that has a material component cost, you can cast it with gold pieces in place of material components, the amount required for each casting equal to half the cost of the component. Additionally, your presence seems to glimmer with a distracting shine, and your spell save DC increases by 2.

Aura of Bag Chasing

Beginning at 7th level, your innate ability to find objects of value becomes so strong that it becomes palpable in the air around you. You and friendly creatures within 20 feet of you gain a +3 bonus to investigation, perception and sleight of hand checks made towards searching for or unlocking chests or secret compartments.
At 18th level, the +3 bonus increases to +6.

Sacrificial Fortune

Starting at 15th level, your commitment to the bag grants you the power to form gold from your own life force. As an action, you can expend a number of hit dice equal to your proficiency bonus and create gold pieces equal to the total rolled. This gold lasts until you finish a long rest, before fading into dust.

You can use this feature once per long rest.

One with the Bag

At 20th level, your persistence to chase the bag has blessed you with a divine transformation. As an action, your body is encased in a shining layer of gold, copper and silver, adorned with jewels of all sorts, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • You gain temporary hit points equal to the number of gold pieces you or friendly creatures within 60 feet have, up to your maximum hit points.
  • Creatures that can see you must make a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC at the beginning of each of their turns. On a failed save, attacks they make against creatures other than you are made with disadvantage.
  • When you cast a spell on your spell list that has a component cost, you can cast it without its component cost and do not need to make saves to maintain concentration on the spell.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
