Druid
Base Class: Druid

The Circle of Skylights allows druids to draw on the power of stars. These druids have tracked heavenly patterns since time immemorial, discovering secrets hidden amid the constellations. By revealing and understanding these secrets, the Circle of the Skylights seeks to harness the powers of the cosmos.

Many druids of this circle keep records of the constellations and the stars’ effects on the world. Some groups document these observations at megalithic sites, which serve as enigmatic libraries of lore. These repositories might take the form of stone circles, pyramids, petroglyphs, and underground temples— any construction durable enough to protect the circle’s sacred knowledge even against a great cataclysm.

Level 3: Astral Shard

You look to the ancient light of the stars for guidance, as many druids before you have. The cosmos has deemed you worthy for doing so, and has thus gifted you a fragment of its radiance.

You now have in your possession a crystalized piece of the sky, known as an Astral Shard. If placed before or within light or fire, the shard magically projects a spherical map of the stars in the night sky, which is a 10 ft. Emanation originating from it. For the purposes of navigation, this projected map can act as a star chart. During nighttime, you can draw power from the shard through meditation by peering into it for 1 hour. After meditating in this way, you gain the following benefits for the next 24 hours:

  • Ever-sleeping Stargazer. Forgoing sleep does not give you levels of Exhaustion. Furthermore, you can't be forcibly put to sleep by magical means.
  • Of Light and Flame. Whenever an attack, spell, or druid class feature of yours deals fire damage, you can cause the damage type to become radiant damage instead. You can also convert radiant damage into fire damage in the same way if you so choose.
  • Skylight Spell-weave. You know and can cast the Guidance and Starry Wisp cantrips. Furthermore, the shard can serve as a spellcasting focus for your druid spells and can be magically affixed onto any object that you can use as a druidic spellcasting focus.

If you lose the shard or if it is destroyed, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to magically create a replacement, which also functions as a 1-hour meditation to draw power from the new shard. The ceremony can be performed during a Short or Long Rest, but can only be performed during nighttime. A lost shard is destroyed upon this ceremony's completion.

Level 3: Circle of Skylights Spells

Your bond with the stars above grants you spells that are fueled by their power.

When you reach a Druid level specified in the Circle of Skylights Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Level 3: Zodiac Veil

You can extract but a fraction of the cosmic power emanating from skylights, uncountable.

As a bonus action, you can expend either a use of your Wild Shape feature or a spell slot of 1st level or higher. Upon doing so, you summon and envelop yourself within an aura of stardust, known as a Zodiac Veil. While the veil is present, any of your physical features that you so choose glimmer like stars, and glowing lines connect them as though you were a constellation on a star chart. Also, your body becomes luminous, causing a 30 ft. Emanation of magical Dim Light to originate from you.

When you summon the Zodiac Veil, choose one of the following constellations; The veil takes the form of the chosen constellation and the effect of that form occurs, which can only target creatures and objects that you can see within this feature's Emanation and can occur again as a bonus action on subsequent turns:

Aries. A stardust aura in the shape of a ram envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range is forced to make a Strength saving throw against your Spell Save DC. Upon failing, your target is shoved up to 15 ft. away if it is Large or smaller (and only 5 ft. away if it is bigger than Large).

Aquarius. A stardust aura in the shape of a chalice envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range gains resistance against the following damage types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, poison, or thunder. This lasts until the start of your next turn or immediately after your target is dealt any damage of the listed types.

Cancer. A stardust aura in the shape of a crab envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range is forced to make a Dexterity saving throw against your Spell Save DC. Upon failing, it becomes Restrained until the start of your next turn or immediately after it takes damage.

Capricorn. A stardust aura in the shape of a horned mermaid envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range is forced to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Spell Save DC. Upon failing, it becomes Charmed by you until the start of your next turn or immediately after it takes damage.

Gemini. A stardust aura in the shape of twin children envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range gains a +1d4 bonus to its AC. This lasts until the start of your next turn or immediately after your target takes damage.

Leo. A stardust aura in the shape of a lion appears around you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range is forced to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Spell Save DC. Upon failing, it becomes Frightened of you until the start of your next turn or immediately after it takes damage.

Libra. A stardust aura in the shape of a balance scale envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range gains a +1d4 bonus to the next saving throw it makes. This lasts until the start of your next turn or immediately after your target makes a saving throw.

Pisces. A stardust aura in the shape of two fish envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range gains a +15 ft. bonus to its movement speed. This lasts until the start of your next turn or immediately after your target takes damage.

Sagittarius. A stardust aura in the shape of a winged hunter envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
You cast the Starry Wisp cantrip against a target within range. You automatically miss otherwise.

Scorpio. A stardust aura in the shape of a scorpion envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range is forced to make a Constitution saving throw against your Spell Save DC. Upon failing, it becomes Poisoned or Blinded (your choice) until the start of your next turn or immediately after it takes damage.

Taurus. A stardust aura in the shape of a bull envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range is forced to make a Constitution saving throw against your Spell Save DC. Upon failing, your target is Stunned until the start of your next turn or immediately after it takes damage.

Virgo. A stardust aura in the shape of a virgin woman envelops you. This constellation's effect is as follows:
A target within range gains a +1d4 bonus to its next attack roll. This lasts until the start of your next turn or immediately after your target makes an attack roll.

When summoned, your Zodiac Veil is present for up to 10 minutes, until you dismiss it as a bonus action, until you become Incapacitated, or until you use this feature again.

Level 6: Flames of the Constellations

You can pull down the light of the constellations into yourself in order to take claim of their hold on fate. As a result, those who fight alongside you may see another day, and those who oppose you may not.

The 30 ft. magical Dim Light Emanation of your "Zodiac Veil" feature becomes magical Bright Light. Immediately after the effect of a constellation form occurs for that feature, choose one creature within the Emanation (including possibly yourself). The target is wreathed in celestial, fate-altering flame, which grants it a number of temporary Hit Points equal to 1d8 + your Druid level. Once per turn, when a creature deals damage with an attack or spell while having these temporary Hit Points, it can expend up to its current amount as part of the same action (no action required). Upon doing so, the amount expended is added as bonus fire damage to one roll dealt by the creature's attack or spell.

These temporary Hit Points last until your "Zodiac Veil" feature ends or until you grant temporary Hit Points in this way again.

Level 10: Celestial Alignment

The guidance of the skylights has granted you the ability to truly align yourself among the astral energies you have drawn upon for power and wisdom.

While your "Zodiac Veil" feature is present, you can use a bonus action to change the current constellation form into another form of your choice without needing to use the feature again. When changing a constellation form in this way, the initial duration is not reset and the effect of the new form can occur.

Additionally, when you cast either the Augury, Divination, or Legend Lore spells, you can replace the required material component with your Astral Shard, which will not be consumed by the spell. However, when you do so for the Legend Lore spell, you must finish a Long Rest before you can do so again.

Level 14: Fate of One Who Weaves the Stars

Your oneness with the skylights has given you the wisdom of the fates. In gaining such foreknowledge, your welcoming of destiny has become as deeply powerful as your ability to weave and control it.

When a creature makes a D20 Test while it has any amount of temporary Hit Points from your "Flames of the Constellations" feature, it can add your Wisdom modifier as a bonus to that D20 Test. When a creature does so, it must finish a Long Rest before it can do so again.

Additionally, whenever the effect of a constellation form occurs for your "Zodiac Veil" feature, you must roll a d12 immediately afterward. Upon doing so, an additional effect of the veil occurs. The exact effect is determined by the number rolled on the d12, as indicated in the Constellations table below. If the result of the roll determines that the additional effect is of your current constellation form, the effect of any constellation form of your choice can occur instead.
