Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who swear this oath dedicate themselves to cleansing the world of evil.  Evil is like a disease that has infected the land and only your purifying flames can cure it.  While some Paladins pursue peace and harmony, you know that only force of arms can defeat evil and its corruption, so you have dedicated yourself to becoming a finely honed holy weapon.  There is no negotiating with those that are truly evil and the only way to deal with them is to send them to meet their vile gods.  You believe in law and order but you also understand that as an instrument of purification, you are judge, jury, and executioner for any that follow the path of darkness.

Tenets of Purification

A paladin who takes this oath has a holy symbol branded on his chest directly over his heart

Purify the Land.  It's not enough to merely defeat the forces of darkness, you want to see them completely eradicated and sent to the nine hells.

Peace through Power.  While peace and harmony are admirable goals, you understand that there can never be peace without the destruction of evil and a dead foe cannot threaten the peace

Bravery is the Way.  The horrors you will encounter will be many and only the bravest can face them.  You cannot destroy evil if you're afraid to face it

Innocence is Purity.  Those who do evil seek to harm and corrupt the innocent, you must be their shield and savior.

Level 3: Oath of Purification Spells

The magic of your oath ensures you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Paladin level specified in the Oath of Purification Spells table, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Fiery Wrath.  Channel Divinity to target one creature within 30 feet, dealing (2d6 + Paladin level) fire damage and setting the target on fire. At the start of its turn, the creature can use an action to make a DC 10 Dexterity check to put out the fire, or sustain 1d6 more fire damage per turn for one minute.

Fiery Presence.  Channel Divinity to blind opponents within 30 feet who fail a Dexterity save. Creatures with Darkvision or better sight in darkness have disadvantage. Blindness lasts 1d4 turns.

Level 7: Aura of Divinity

Starting at 7th level, you constantly emanate a Divine aura while you're not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. Friendly creatures in the aura gain resistance to physical damage from evil creatures. At 18th level the range of the aura is extended to 30ft.

Level 15: Purging Flames

Starting at 15th level, those who dare to strike you are purged by the flames of your holy righteousness. Whenever a creature hits you with an attack, that creature takes fire damage equal to 2x your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) if you’re not incapacitated. Additionally, if they used any type of metallic weapon or object to strike you they must make a constitution saving throw against your spell save DC or the object becomes red hot and they drop it from their hands.

Level 20: Herald of Purification

At 20th level you can use a bonus action to become the Living Embodiment of your God's Purifying Flames , gaining the following benefits for 1 minute.  Once you use this action, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest

  • You sprout fiery wings from your back that bathe everything within 15 feet in bright light and grant you a flying speed of 60 feet
  • You are immune to fire damage and resistant to all other damage
  • Whenever an enemy starts its turn within 5 feet of you, that creature takes Fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier plus your Proficiency Bonus.
