Base Class: Fighter
The Dragon Knights are paragons of valor and leadership who partner with dragons. Such knights aspire to protect the innocent and rally fellow adventurers to the causes of justice and freedom. Although the Dragons Knights were a military division originally founded in Cormyr, it eventually grew to be a autonomous order of knights that now just base in Cormyr. When in need the nation can call on the Dragon Knights to help defend the nation in times of crisis. New recruits are enlisted from any realms where chivalry is in abundance, including the Silver Marches, Damara, and Chessenta. Those who choose this path make a magical pact with a hatchling creating a bond between the knight and dragon. This bond irrevocably transforms both dragon and knight, allowing the dragon to grow in strength and size faster than normal, as well as grow down a different path than one normally would. The knight also gains some of the traits of their bonded dragon.
Knightly Envoy
You gain proficiency in the Persuasion skill. If you are already proficient in it, you gain proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Animal Handling, Insight, Intimidation, or Performance.
Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses Persuasion. You receive this benefit regardless of the skill proficiency you gain from this feature.
Additionally, you can cast the Comprehend Languages spell but only as a Ritual. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it.
Dragon Companion
The Dragon in Combat. In combat, the dragon acts during your turn. It can move and use its Reaction on its own, but the only action it takes is the Dodge action unless you take a Bonus Action to command it to take an action in its stat block or some other action. If you have the Incapacitated condition, the dragon acts on its own and isn’t limited to the Dodge action.
Resurrecting the Dragon. If the dragon companion has died within the last hour, you can take a Magic action to touch the dragon and expend a use of your Second Wind. The dragon returns to life after 1 minute with all its Hit Points restored. Otherwise, you can perform a 1-hour ceremony to resurrect the dragon; this ceremony can be performed as part of a Short or Long Rest.

Posted Feb 4, 2025Did my best to make a blend of the new Purple Dragon knight and the old one. Tweaked a few features of the dragon things to fit the aesthetic I get in my head better, and to buff it a little bit so the dragon is a bit more viable as before at max level fighter it would have 84 health. Moved the focus from INT to CHA as I feel that fits the build better. This is my first proper attempt at a subclass and it seems good to me so please let me know if it needs buffs or nerfs.
