Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

Your voice is thunder, your soul is lightning.

A Stormlord is a warrior who either was born with a piece of a raging storm in their heart or faced a fearsome storm and let it flow through and within them. A Stormlord wields the powers of thunder and lightning to devastating effect, scarring battlefields with lightning strikes and laying low fortifications with blasts of thunder. Stormlords are living tempests, seeming demigods of storms, who leap and fly across the battle to deliver destructive reckoning upon any who would stand against them. Just as one would be foolish to try and fight a tornado, so too would one be ill-advised to fight a Stormlord.

Some abilities granted by this subclass force creatures to make saving throws. The DC for these throws, called your Stormlord DC, is equal to 8 plus your proficiency bonus plus your Constitution ability modifier.

Level 3: Walk the Stormpath

~Level 3 Path of the Stormlord feat~

You wield the power of a raging storm; thunder and lightning beckon at your call.

Whenever you successfully hit a creature with a weapon attack or unarmed strike, you can choose to instead deal all of that attack's damage as either Thunder or Lightning.

Additionally, once on each of your turns while raging, you can choose to add one of the following effects when you successfully hit a creature with a weapon attack or unarmed strike:

  • Chained Stikes: Cause a creature within 15 feet of the target to take Lightning damage equal to 1d6 plus your Rage damage.
    • Beginning at Barbarian level 6, this effect bounces to a new target, dealing the same amount of damage dealt to the first target. This effect repeats a total number of times equal to your Rage damage; a creature can only be targeted by this effect once per turn.
  • Thunderous Blows: Cause each creature other than you within a 5-foot Emanation originating from the target to take Thunder damage equal to 1d6 plus your Rage damage.
    • Beginning at Barbarian level 6, each creature affected by this ability must make a Constitution saving throw against your Stormlord DC. On a failed save, a creature is Knocked Prone

Level 3: Cry of Thunder

~Level 3 Path of the Stormlord feat~

Beginning when you choose this Path at Barbarian level 3, as part of the Bonus Action to enter a Rage, or as a Bonus Action while Raging on a later turn, you can force each creature within a 5-foot Emanation originating from you to make a Constitution saving throw against your Stormlord DC. A creature takes Thunder or Lightning damage (your choice when you activate this ability) equal to your Barbarian level plus your Rage damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful one.

Later, beginning at Barbarian level 10, the Emanation extends 10 feet out from you, instead of 5 feet.

Level 6: Shock and Awe

~Level 6 Path of the Stormlord feature~

You gain a pool of Storm Charges equal to your Rage damage. You regain all expended charges whenever you complete a Long Rest.

Beginning at Barbarian level 6, whenever you take the Attack action while Raging, you can expend one Storm Charge to replace one attack you make with one of the following:

  • Rolling Thunder: You can move up to 15 feet without expending your movement, so long as your speed is not 0. Then, you can force each creature within a 30-foot cone extending out from you to make a Constitution saving throw against your Stormlord DC. On a failed save, a creature takes Thunder damage equal to your Barbarian level plus your Rage damage, is Knocked Prone, and becomes Stunned until the end of its next turn.
  • Lightning Strike: You can move up to 15 feet without expending your movement, so long as your speed is not 0. Then you can can make a melee weapon attack or unarmed strike against a creature within 10 feet of you, even if you could not normally reach them. On a hit, the creature suffers the attack's normal effects and then takes additional Lightning damage equal to twice your Barbarian level plus twice your Rage damage, is Knocked Proned, and becomes Paralyzed until the end of its next turn.

Level 10: Flying Raijin

~Level 10 Path of the Stormlord feat~

Beginning at Barbarian level 10, you gain a flying speed of 60 feet while Raging.

While Raging, your weapon attacks and unarmed strikes deal an extra 1d6 damage on a successful hit. This damage is your choice of either Thunder or Lightning damage.

As part of the Bonus Action to Rage, or as a Bonus Action while Raging, you can instantly teleport to an unoccupied space you can see within 60 feet of you. Each creature within 10-foot Emanation originating from you when you appear must make a Constitution saving throw against your Stormlord DC. On a failed save, a creature takes Thunder and Lightning damage, each equal to your Barbarian level plus your Rage damage. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Proficiency bonus and regain all expended uses when you complete a Long Rest

Level 14: Sweeping Charge

~Level 14 Path of the Stormlord feat~

When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with a melee weapon attack, an unarmed strike, or an ability granted by a Stormlord subclass feature, you can immediately use your movement to move up to 10 feet and make another attack roll against a different creature within your reach. Each time this ability triggers on a single turn after the first, you gain a stacking +1d6 Thunder or Lightning damage (your choice) to the attack's damage roll.
